We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Buero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I have always been a risk taker in my life. I see risks as challenges to conquer. The old adage “no risk, no reward” , I believe is true. Sometimes you have to go out on a limb and believe in your dream even when it’s risky. But the payoff is huge when you are willing to endure some risk and rocky roads to get there!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My craft is very much my art form. I see colors in nature and especially patterns in animals that I love to recreate in hair. Nature, shapes, architecture and fashion are all muses for me in my art of hair. I started working in salons on Saturdays at the age of 15 and never really stopped! It was an instant love. I started working at Van Michael Salons right out of high school I worked there for 13 years and worked my way up to educational and creative director for Color. I also was on the Global education team for Redken for 10 years. All of those things shaped me into the hairstylist I am today. It took ALOT of hard work and dedication and putting in the extra hours. I have always believed if you want success you have to work for it. No one is going to hand it to you. What I would want people to know about me and my brand at Thrive. The salon. Is that I care deeply about the process of making your hair the best it’s ever been for you, your face, your skin and your personality. Hair is NOT a one size fits all. At Thrive, I make sure everyone’s experience is personal and tailored to them and their hair needs. I may never approach your hair the same way twice. We analyze and plan each appointment as if we are starting from scratch each time to achieve the best results possible. Never get comfortable!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to a Braves game to experience the Battery and a Falcons or United game to enjoy the atmosphere at the Mercedes Benz stadium. We would go up to the North Georgia mountains and hike and look for waterfalls in Blue Ridge. I love the restaurants and shops and bars in the Westside for a fun night out. For a nice dinner and great wine , I would take them to 101 Steak in Vinings. My favorite thing is listening to live music and enjoying bands. We would find all the fun venues to enjoy some great music too!! Of course, all of this is in a post Covid world!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are too many people to list that have encouraged me along the way but, I would have to say my family and friends have been a constant source of encouragement and support for me to feel confident in making the move to open my own space, especially in the middle of a pandemic! Crazy times!
