We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley & Brittany Silfies and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley & Brittany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Brittany & I wanted to have the flexibility to work from home & travel… be with our kids and also have more control over our time and resources. We felt like owning and running a business checked all of the boxes. It is hard to find a job that gives that flexibility. In addition, when you start your own business, usually it is something you are deeply passionate about.  Pink Picasso became a culmination of our idea to recreate paint by numbers, our need for flexibility, and our desire to work for ourselves. 

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Pink Picasso started in 2019, offering 6 paint by number kits all centered around botanicals. We offered our products to the boutique space hoping that buyers would find it a new and exciting product to offer to their customers.  Pink Picasso Kits include a template printed canvas, handy little paint pots, and 4 brushes.  Each kit has everything you need to complete your own high quality masterpiece with no artistic background needed.  We hope that the time painting provides each customer a way to enjoy arts successfully, a chance to sit quietly, or the gift of experience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We live in Birmingham, AL and love the weather, the people, and the ability to be in the country in 30 minutes yet shopping at the Summit or downtown for a great meal 30 minutes later. There are several museums, great parks, and places to pick your own fruit but mostly we love the restaurant scene which has recently really been impressive. Our favorite restaurant is Automatic Seafood & Oysters downtown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would definitely give a shoutout to Vicky & Debbie from our Atlanta wholesale market showroom. They both gave us some constructive feedback on our samples and invited us to join them at the show in 2019 as a vendor… they mentored us into a successful business relationship with them. They representative some very prestigious product lines and we are grateful for the opportunity and start they gave us. We have worked with so many boutiques across the country – putting our product in front of their customer and trusting us to deliver something they could sell. In addition, we work with a lot of partners who make doing business easier and more complete. Pivot Business group (fractional CFO & accounting group) & our fulfillment warehouse, United Fulfillment Solutions, make working much easier.
