We had the good fortune of connecting with Artsy Chow Roamer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Artsy Chow Roamer, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have been a creative since childhood. Whether it was learning to play the piano and guitar, taking tap and modern dance lessons or moving the furniture around my room to provide a trendy new look, I always had a creative project on the back burner. It continued into high school with writing, plays and music and into college with interior design and art history. After some years in design, I discovered my real love was getting to the end to consult and provide the finished artistic vision. I took that with my art history background and opened a gallery after living in Prague and traveling extensively throughout Europe. Meanwhile, my hobbies of pasta making, canning and amateur she-cheffing started me thinking about a blog in order to write about all three of my loves: art, food and travel. Hence, Artsy Chow Roamer was born. I don’t like writing about any of these subjects in an eggheady sort of way. I come at it from a fun 411 pathway with my quirky bits hanging out. I give real tips and honest reviews that offer people a chance to dream and/or plan what their next big adventure in any of these categories might be. My website provides binge reading about hidden gems in travel, reviews on local, regional and international restaurants plus great foodie ideas, recipes and cookbook reviews. I speak to all things artsy from plays, music, museums and gallery exhibitions to in-depth interviews and discussions on artist’s work that I find compelling. Sometimes I even write about things…well….just because. People say they love what I do and count on the fact that if I say something is worth their time, they know it will be. I like that. I like it a lot.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I help the curious discover adventures in art, food & travel by providing practical tips and inspiration with a unique funny perspective. Why? Because I want you to see beautiful things, eat love on a plate and experience how life-changing travel can be. If you want to laugh, learn and get a bit quirky while planning your next great adventure, you’re in the right place.

I began my career in interior design with a little side interest in all things art. Fast forward to marriage with an architect who whisked me away to Prague forcing me to learn a difficult new language while joyfully allowing me to travel throughout Europe. Who knew it would take so much just to learn simple tricks and hacks to make life easier abroad? Things like when to have your own toilet paper and why buying their plastic bags to carry your rum and coke in is not a good idea!

I have a bucket list and there are so many things left on it that I want to share with my readers; be a creator for, have fun with, inspire and educate my tribe. I hope you want to be a part of that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start with a visit to Miami Circle where most of the best Atlanta galleries are located. Thomas Deans Fine Art, Johnson Lowe Gallery, the shared spaces of Marcia Wood and Mason Fine Art and Pryor Fine Art will get you a fine start. Grab some tapas, drinks and music while there at Eclipse di Luna.

Wherever the Rathbun brothers are is where I want to eat and hang out. In Atlanta, that’s KR Steakbar, The Bureau and Krog Street Bar. Yum! Holla Kevin! The renovated Colony Square can take days to explore with exceptional eating and shopping venues.

Since staycations are a thing I write about, I would say The Fourth Hotel on the Beltline is a must do especially during summer for the full pool and fitness experience while having many bars and restaurants to choose from. The Hamilton in Alpharetta is also a favorite with a great after work cocktail scene and a fun hidden speakeasy that gives you music and boutique bowling. The Epicurean in Midtown is great and walkable to one of the best Italian spots in Pasta da Pulcinella.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shout outs in each of the areas I write about are many and would go this way:
1) Art: Atlanta critic Jerry Cullum and Thomas Deans Fine Art. Both have been long time friends and have always been there when I needed help, support and the latest bit of gossip about the industry.
2) Food: Atlanta chef and all things foodie Alton Brown. For being true to himself, lol quirky and reliably factual all at once.
3) Travel: Hands down, my Czech husband and furry travel buddies who have made every trip exciting and memorable.
