Meet Artasia Olivia | Screenwriter & Filmmaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Artasia Olivia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Artasia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I became a Screenwriter ultimately to tell dope stories and I became a Filmmaker to share dope experiences. Entertaining people with not only words, but also with visuals has to be the most beautiful form of art. Giving my people something they can relate to and something they can see themselves in, is the cherry on top. Being able to amplify Black voices, Women voices, Millennial voices via story depiction excites me. It gives me a thrill I never knew I needed until I experienced it. This unique form of artistic expression quickly became my passion. Storytelling became the driving force in opening my production company AOS Now Entertainment. AOS Now Entertainment is a place where bold scripts are being written. It’s a place where minority groups are highly represented, on and off camera. It is also a place where, opportunities will be given to other talented creatives to further pursue their own creative careers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Here at AOS Now Entertainment we like to entertain our audience with dope tv shows, short films, and movies. All while simultaneously educating the masses on several taboo topics. We like to call this “E times 2,” entertaining while educating. What sets us apart from many other TV/Film creatives is, our CEO Artasia Olivia (myself), documents the entire journey to success. My YouTube channel is a behind the scenes lens on what it’s like being a 24 year old Black girl Screenwriter, Producer, Director, and Actress in today’s times. I discuss pitching to tv networks, give advice on indie filmmaking, and just several different subjects on the craft itself. This journey has not been easy by far. If it was easy, then everybody will be making million dollar television shows and movies. As a future Showrunner and Filmmaker, I have learned to pave my own pathway. No one is going to “put me on.” Instead, I have to put myself on to this million dollar Hollywood bag. I want the world to know Artasia Olivia is not in this career for the money. I am in this career to tell timeless stories and make an impact on the world while doing so.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is kind of embarrassing, but I don’t go out in Atlanta much. I have been here for 2 years and I still don’t know the hot spots, restaurants, and fun things to do. It feels like I’ve only been here for 2 months because I still ask the city’s natives to put me on to the dopest hangout spots. My mind is kind of programmed to only go to work and work on TV/Film stuff in my spare time. However, if I was to pick my favorite hangout spots it would be places that remind me of home. I’m from Jacksonville, Fl so I would love to take my friends and family to Juicy Crab for lunch and Copeland’s for dinner. All while spending the day at the county fair or an arcade such as Dave & Busters or Andretti.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this Shout Out to all the Black women who are transitioning from one career to the next. With me being a full time Registered Nurse, I get the hustle. I understand what it’s like to work a regular 9-5 and still have to have enough energy to come home and work towards the career you truly want to be in. It’s not easy going from “corporate to creative” at a fast pace. There are many challenges we face trying to pursue our dreams on a daily basis. However, we have to remain consistent, persistent, and resilient at all times. Knowing I’m a part of this group of women keeps me motivated to go for everything I deserve.
