We had the good fortune of connecting with Arionna Vanya Orange and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arionna Vanya, why did you pursue a creative career?
The beauty industry soundlessly came upon me. I didn’t realize I was pursuing it until years in the craft. I eventually chose to pursue this creative and artistic career because the more and more I picked up a brush was the more I realized the gifted touch God has given me. I’m all self taught due to unwittingly showing interest in things connecting to beauty throughout my kid years. Such as using spritz to put craft glitter on my eyelids or putting my hair in several different styles in one day. Knowledge about beauty outstandingly became important when I involved myself with acting and modeling. I didn’t always have the resources to be serviced by others, so I took it upon myself to create whatever look was needed at the moment. Before I knew it my work actually began looking like something. My curious and creative mind began to amaze me with the things I came up with just by taking any opportunity I had to use beauty. I never thought of doing or servicing others until people around me in highschool started randomly asking me could I help them with their hair or do their makeup for different school events. My decision was made from the first few clients I came across. It brought me joy to see the influence my art and creativity would bring someone. I saw an extra level of confidence come across faces, relief, happiness, and most importantly satisfaction because their vision was coming to life. I began creating tutorial videos and posting them on social media, this is what started my beauty influencer title, also beginning the off campus expansion of my business. I cherish each and every look I create. I truly love what I chose to pursue.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve realized a big part of what sets Beauty By Vanya aside from others is the acceptance, support, and understanding I reciprocate back to my clients. Each look created is based on every individual’s personality and characteristics. Therefore I take the time out during each appointment to make sure that I know who you are, reflecting that within my work. I authentically try to provide everything I can, past being a beautician. At some hours I will be a therapist, a companion, a mentor, etc. My business is filled with positive, pure, and peaceful energy. At times, we express, we pray, and most significantly we are openly ourselves around each other. I make certain, by the time you walk out the door, you don’t feel like a stranger to yourself but in fact a fresher more enhanced version.
Running a multi-service, self-taught business independently is not easy but extremely rewarding. There are sometimes sleepless nights, always more to learn, slower days than others. However, I’ve come to accept that every challenge is simply just a part of my journey. It can be difficult to refrain from comparing to others or those who are in the same industry. Therefore, the most significant lesson I’ve learned and follow is to stay in my lane. Yes, there are tons doing hair and makeup just like I am. In spite of that, I am confident that Beauty by Vanya is a special business, with a unique aesthetic, and its own story. We have a lot to offer!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Although I was born in Tennessee, I’ve been in the Georgia long enough to know how much fun it has to give. We’d have to go my favorite spa Diamonds Aesthetics owned by Olayemi Dilicia Jones. This is a spa with a very warm and relaxing environment, I personally come here before my ventures for self preparation. I’m a person of vibes and good food so we would need to catch St. James Live for food, drink, and music with a lounging feel. This is a great place to catch up, hear a live jazz band, eat great food, and have a nice drink all at the same time. On another day we’d have to stop by Slingshot Atl, an adult arcade type of vibe with cool games. They also have food and a variety bar.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give all my credit to God and thanks to my entire supportive community. Faith has brought me thus far. I have been through several adverse trials in my life. During every tribulation I always ensure to praise weather the circumstances of my season. I thank God for continuously giving me signs that my craft is for me while blessing my hands right along. Talk about not knowing where I would be.
Inside of my supportive community, I have to give love and thanks to my family, partner, partner’s relatives, and my loyal clients. Each of these specific groups have given me the self teaching experience and training I’ve needed. Before my expert skills, there was my grandmother and little sister, eagerly ready to sit in my chair allowing me to test out anything I desired. My partner who is also a skilled hairstylist has been my right hand to the business. The one who helps me the most, understands the business, and my ideas. You may see her on the floor locking, braiding, or cutting hair some days as well.
I’ve never received anything but pure support and motivation to keep going. With a huge nurturing and accepting colony of relatives coming right beside rooting me every step of the way. Who are dedicated clients just as all of my loyals. I will forever be grateful to everyone that gives me support. The love towards my business is my fuel.
