Meet Ariel Omarzu: Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Omarzu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
As a musician I believe in the rhythm inside of all of us. We all have our heart beats, and though some of us beat a little faster or slower, there is a harmony that can connect us all. It is my goal to help people recognize that harmony. In a world full of so much individualism, finding that we are all connected has healing potential for not just ourselves but for the animals and other creatures that we share this planet with. I believe fully in the fact that that is why we musicians are here, to hack into the shared beat and to connect us all. My music is not for myself, it is for other’s. Sometimes people need an excuse to drop the stress, to gather, to connect, and my ultimate goal as a musician is to provide that.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In my music life I have tried to maintain as natural of a response to the music as possible. I like to have a connection with audience, so every performance changes depending on my crowd. I try to keep ego out of my work and know that my job is to be a healer, so whatever that requires from me in whatever setting is what you will get.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a weekend trip, outside of the obvious great spots like the Zoo or Coke Museum, I would start us off by Getting coffee at Java Cat’s and petting cat’s. I love spending time exploring Oakland Cemetery. Getting beera at Krog St Market, taking a walk on the Belt Line to Ponce, and then going to the rooftop at Nine Mile Station. Also a huge shoutout Vortex in Little 5 points.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out to the Chattanooga Music Scene, this includes especially Stratton Tingle at SoundCorp and the kind folks at the Camp House for putting on the Singer Song Writer’s Stage.
