We had the good fortune of connecting with Arie Darby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is God.

I have tried doing things on my own, been stressed, trying to figure it all out alone. When I learned that when I let God align the people and the path, it all truly aligns as it is supposed to.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So I have been singing since the age of 5 and began professionally recording at the age of 12. Growing up and being submersed in music, I’ve always been told I have to work that much harder because the world is against me in 2 ways already, “I am black and I am a woman.” So if fueled me to always be productive, overachieve, stay humble and inspire. With my name being Arieona, nickname Arie, I’ve always been told I am the “flower child” “sweet but defiant” “lastly impression”. With me starting as an introvert and very much still am at times, I would deny these compliments, but then I thought, why not embrace them… Black girls and women CAN be magic too, so why not be just that. That’s why I took on the name “Arie Elle” (Arie being part of my first name, and L “Elle” being the first letter of my middle name) showing that we as women are Magic, majestic, powerful, talented, educated, loving, strong, leaders, queens and princesses… my brand has always been a part of me but the Physicality of it came more recently as I’m on the journey to stay true to me but to also grow.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As much as I love the city, I am an extroverted introvert. I am getting back to explore more.

I love a good iced Matcha from the 7Brew here or a nice walk in our downtown park area!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate a shoutout to my mom for believing in my gift and allowing me the space to cultivate it and being an inspiration with her nonprofit organization, Nothing’s Impossible.
