Meet Ariana Gilchrist | Stylist, Designer & Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariana Gilchrist and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariana, what do you attribute your success to?
The factors behind my success and my brand is that I am still growing. I keep coming up with ideas that can expand my brand and my talents. I’m not the type of person to stay in one lane, I like to explore my thoughts on what else I could do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an innovative upcoming artist and designer in the fashion industry. From designing to constructing garments, I hold a value in representation of my brand Malon. I graduated from SCAD in 2022, where I had my first debut my first collection in the annual fashion show where I created 6 avant-garde pieces. I would say after having that big moment I took year off my actually making clothes just so I can take the time to figure out what do I want my brand to represent now moving forward. Now that I took that time it allowed me to brand storm and use what I see around me everyday, how people express themselves with clothes and connecting. Throughout that year it was challenging because not only was I rebranding but I was also finding myself as creative. Realizing I want to expand my brand to being more than clothes. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t take chances talking with other creatives and sharing my talents with others. Was it easy ? No. Nobody said it would be easy because nothing happens overnight for something that will last a lifetime. Ive learned to have patiences when it comes to being creative if it takes me two years to put something out again so be it, I will take my time with something I really care about and to put my faith in God. All the no’s I’ve received from people in the pass year I used to look at them as downfalls but now I see them as apart of my process that they weren’t ready for what I have to offer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well for me being originally from Washington D.C. it would honestly be a trip of both of us exploring. But for the places I’ve been to so far we would go to Ponce City market food hall because they have everything you can think of. We would go to the belt line to walk around and try new things and end off with a drive in movie.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As I continue to develop my brand and my own personal style to showcase my talents and skills. With inspiration from family and creative friends pushing me on a daily I use that as motivation to continue going forward with designs and where my future takes me
