We had the good fortune of connecting with Ari Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ari, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Everything happens for a reason.” I truly believe everything happens for a reason whether we know the reason or not. God’s timing is everything and that could be a reason something has not happened yet. God also blocks things from your life which is why relationships, events, and everything else in life could be stopped. I live by the quote and it helps me cope with life better.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m going to take it back for a minute. My love of fashion started way before I even understood what fashion truly means. At the age of 2, I started dressing myself. I know that sounds crazy to let a 2 year old dress themselves, but my mom allowed it. My mom has told me stories of outfits I picked out that actually “matched.” It’s so mind-blowing to me that at such a young age I was already using my God given gifts. My people would always come to me for advice about what they should wear and etc but it still didn’t hit me that this was a gift. On January 3, 2020, I decided to launch my personal styling business. The start was definitely not easy because of doubt and fear but I’m glad I started this business because I love everything about fashion. The road hasn’t been easy. I’ve struggled with not feeling valued with the work I produced. I’ve learned that art is different to many people and everybody will not accept my selections but as long as it means something to me that’s all that matters. I’ve also struggled with putting myself out there and networking with others because I’ve felt like I have been in the fashion industry. I’ve gotten much better with promoting myself. I would like to be known for making my clients feel good and feel loved by the clothes that I styled them with. I want people to see an outfit and know it was a Tailored AF fit. Thank you to everyone that has supported me thus far!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to get some Memphis wings

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Unpack ‘n Bounce Back is a great podcast by Reyna Biddy and Skye Townsend. I absolutely love their podcast. Their podcast is about self growth, unpacking trauma, things most people ignore, and their personal life experiences. Their podcast has pushed me to continue to manifest the life that I desire all while becoming a better person. I believe everyone should check it out. Dead Ass with Khadeen and Devale Ellis are a married couple that talk about their family, personal experiences, and things most people don’t want to talk about. Their podcast has made me look at life in a different light. I also want to shoutout my friends and family for supporting me along this journey. I want them to know I really appreciate them so much.
