We had the good fortune of connecting with April Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi April, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I always knew that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I grew up with a front row seat watching my mom and learning from her how to run a successful business. A couple of endeavors later after living life, prioritizing, and discovering what truly makes me happy, I decided that I wanted to create a brand that reflected what I love most – motherhood and family. I knew that anything children related would be my focus because I absolutely love babies and being a mom; but I was also in a season of survival mode within motherhood. I knew that if I was feeling it, other moms were too. Starting my business gave me the ability to contribute financially to our household while creating essentials for babies that make life a little easier, and build a growing community for moms.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business has always been inspired by my family. The name Kammy Kids was named in memory of our angel baby Kamryn and is a large part of my why. We’re a Bamboo Essentials Brand for Babies that currently specializes in newborn knotted gowns with more products coming soon. Our bamboo is extremely soft, stretchy, temperature regulating, hypoallergenic, and breathable. Perfect for delicate and sensitive skin. We offer prints and colors that are modern, seasonless, and can be worn year-round at an affordable price.

We got our start in the industry with our screen printed graphic bodysuits and tees. Although they were a huge hit within our community, my vision for the company has always been to grow and extend our collection. Making the transition was about a year long process that included sourcing, sampling, manufacturing, and testing the waters with my current customers and community. You can’t expect to please everyone when it comes to change and growth but our pivot was surprisingly welcomed but not without some losses. We no longer sold the sizes or products that our current customers loved us for. We were now faced with having to market to a new audience. This new phase of business taught me to trust the process, have tunnel vision with our brand message, have patience, and your people will find you.

My promise to our customers is to provide high quality, comfortable, and stylish essentials for babies that moms can feel good about using or gifting.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I enjoy trying local restaurants, good vibes, and outdoors. We would definitely eat at my favorite restaurant Thai Spice in Peachtree City, and go to Ponce City Market and Atlanta Beltline.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My amazing husband who initially pushed me out of my comfort zone and continues to be my biggest cheerleader and inspires me daily to keep going. I have the best customers and community of moms that continue to engage, support, and share our brand. You guys deserve all of the credit!
