Hi April, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk-taking has always been a part of my journey, shaping both my life and career in profound ways. When I made the decision to quit my job as an educator after six years, it felt like stepping into the unknown. I didn’t have a clear roadmap or all the answers, but I trusted my instincts and leaned into the skills I had developed over the years. It was a leap of faith, trusting in God and the process to guide me forward. Taking risks has been instrumental in pushing me out of my comfort zone, allowing me to discover new opportunities and unlock my full potential. Each risk I’ve taken has led to growth, resilience, and ultimately, fulfillment in both my personal and professional pursuits.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In the heart of Atlanta, I’ve built my career as a makeup artist and photographer, nurturing my passion through my brand, Project B.E.A.T. Inc. For six years, this venture has been my pride and joy, with a vision to expand into a nonprofit empowering young girls to embrace their inner beauty.

What sets me apart is the authenticity and integrity of my brand. I don’t chase clout; instead, I’m driven by a daily purpose to make a positive impact on those I encounter, serving as a guiding light to inspire them to pursue their dreams.

One of my proudest achievements is the recent launch of my beauty guide, designed to empower beginners to master their makeup skills. Through this guide, I aim to share the knowledge and expertise I’ve gained in this field, with the hope of empowering others to embrace their beauty.

My journey to where I am today has been guided by faith. I firmly believe that every person and experience has been strategically placed in my life to propel me forward professionally and personally.

It hasn’t been an easy journey, but through perseverance and a willingness to surrender to God, I’ve overcome challenges that seemed insurmountable.

Along the way, I’ve learned invaluable lessons, including the importance of staying focused on my own path and not allowing external distractions to derail my progress. With each step forward, I’ve grown stronger and more resilient, ready to face whatever challenges come my way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Absolutely! If my best friend was visiting downtown Atlanta for a week, I would make sure they experience the best of what the city has to offer. Here’s a little itinerary for our week-long adventure:

Absolutely! There are a few people and groups who have been instrumental in my journey and deserve recognition for their unwavering support and encouragement.

First and foremost, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Brandon Batemon. He has been my biggest cheerleader from day one, pushing me to pursue my dreams, motivating me to keep going even when things got tough, and providing unwavering support every step of the way. Brandon has always believed in me, even when I doubted myself, and his faith in my abilities has been a constant source of strength and inspiration. His encouragement to trust my instincts and to continuously build upon my skills has been invaluable, and I am incredibly grateful to have him by my side on this journey.

I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to my friends who have supported my brand from the very beginning. They have been there through the highs and lows, cheering me on as I’ve navigated the challenges of building my business. Their unwavering belief in me and my vision has meant the world to me, and I am so grateful for their continued support. They have seen me at my worst and have celebrated with me as I’ve progressed and grown in my craft, and I am blessed to have such amazing friends in my corner.
