We had the good fortune of connecting with Antwone McAfee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antwone, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally born in Hastings Nebraska. But have spent most of my life in Lawrence Kansas. Unlike most of my peers I had the luxury of having both parents in my life. Both my parents thought me discipline, hard work, and good morals. With me and my pops both stubborn as hell we didn’t see eye to eye all the time. I took to the streets around 15. That landed me in the system off and on for most of my life. With that said I wouldn’t change anything. I’ve learned how to interact with any type of individual, and being in the system for so long has giving me a drive to excel in my goals and business ventures

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
A lot of my family member were into music, my aunti could play the piano by ear, my Big Momma was into poetryI her daughter could play the base by ear and so on. feel in love with poetry at a young age. I’ve always like entertaining people. So around 15 I started writing song and free styling with my peers. Mostly as a way of getting things off my chest. My mom used to find my Raps and though them away. Now she takes bride in the fact that what she though was trash at the time was truly a God giving talent. What I’m most proud of about being and Artist is their is no box for creating music. In todays society we have it bad categorizing thing. Music is meant to be organic and free flowing. I’m most excited about what the future holds for me in this industry. And as I look back I’ve done more and seen more than most will do or see in their lifetime. And all of it has came from hard work and perseverance. I’m not at all satisfied or complacent that what drives me to reach the next level. Nothing in life is easy, I’ve had to over come deaths felony charges, prison and just being a black male with goals that most will tell your are unattainable. I’ve learned that you never judge a book by its cover, and you treat those how you would be treated. My message to the world is know yourself be true to your self and only then can you be he man or women your ment to be.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start off by going to Gates BBQ in Kansas City Ks. Then we would hit the town and go to The Power and Light district. Maybe even hit up a few after hours clubs. My drink of choice would have to be Duce. We would most differently go to the studio. Depending the season I would then take them to the lake and do some fishing

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All the credit in my pursuit to happiness is derived from Allah, my parents, Wife, Kids, and peers. A lot of the knowledge that I realized I had comes from books such as The Bible, Quran, 48 Laws of Power The .33 Strategies of war by Robert Greene
