We had the good fortune of connecting with Antonia Durrah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antonia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My authenticity. Staying true to myself and always trusting myself with my creativity. That’s the one factor that’s a MUST for me. Remaining my complete and true self is what separate me from others and is what brings me success. As long as I remain true to myself I could never lose. I could never fail. Yeah I can learn new lessons but if I’m learning then it’ll never be a fail. Staying authentic and trusting your own thought process is what keeps the ball rolling.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When it comes to creating my mind over all is completely different. It’s so hard to explain but easier for me to show through my work. It definitely wasn’t easy getting to where I am today professionally. I’m basically self taught with everything so I had to teach myself the difference between the qualities and even had to expand my knowledge with the sewing machine so that I do know the correct terms and ways I wanted my pieces made. Even with my first product I decided I wanted spray paint on the back of my shirts and knew so little about which brand was the best to use, and what to coat the shirt with so it’ll last longer, and even how to have my customers wash the garment and it became so stressful. I knew whatever it was i put out for the world to buy I wanted the best quality possible because the brand represents me and my creativity. So i had to dig a little deeper and do my research. Was it too late? Yeah but a lesson was learned which was needed. I now know to always do my research before experiencing with new things lol not even just for me, even for the sake of the customers being able to use it for a very long time. One thing I can say is when you see my brand just know it’s a direct representation of me and my fashion interest.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So if a friend was visiting the area some of my upmost favorite places I’d take them would be (in no particular order) the belt line! The vibes there are amazing. I always go there to either skateboard or just catch some fresh air. I’m never not happy when there. For dinner I’d take them to one of my favorites “the southern gentleman” in peach tree. The food is amazing as well as the scenery. I’d also take them to the High museum. Just like me my friends love art so that’ll definitely be an experience they would like. To have fun we would definitely go to top golf to play a few games and grabs some nice drinks!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So my aunt Ellen was actually the one to buy me my first sewing machine ever. I didn’t really ask her to it’s just something she did to invest in me. The crazy part is I didn’t even have a complete image of what it is I’d be using it for, fashion wasn’t really crossing my mind then. So shout-out to my aunt for that, it because the start of something I absolutely love.
