We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Jefferson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When starting my business I knew with everything within me that there had to be something of my own that I could invest my time and energy into. I had always been a hard worker and the time had come for me to put that hard work to use to build my own vision and stop establishing everyone else’s.

What should our readers know about your business?
Starting a business is definitely a journey, and I’ve found strength in faith along the way. Staying focused on my own path and growth is key. When you start comparing you set yourself up for a great deal of dissatisfaction and failure.

I have been blessed to be in a position to be an active serial entrepreneur and all the businesses are pretty much standing on their own now which is great. I have my own fragrance line called Chemistry, BNET which is a black business owners network that teaches the skillset of networking but also the importance of doing so. I own VISHEN with my wife where I serve as the lead wardrobe stylist and creative director and I am also a Gospel recording artist. So yes I do a lot. LOL

My main position is CEO of a housing stabilization company “The Housing Guys”, our mission is getting the homeless from the curb to their keys. What inspired me to get into housing stabilization is the fact that even as a young child I would see the homeless and always wondered the story behind the situation. As I got older, and the opportunity presented itself my desire to open a group home shifted to getting groups of people home.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m in the city of Philadelphia so center city is going to definitely be the spot to visit first. No matter of it’s a visit to the Art Museum or a stroll along Kelly Drive your views will be amazing and the fresh air is always a relief. Kings is a must to visit for the best water ice and cheese pretzel in town. Philly beer garden (don’t be thrown off my the name) is another great scenic spot with some quick bites and great drinks and atmosphere. For a nice nightcap I would suggest definitely Assembly or Stratus rooftop for the perfect view of my city (Philly).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shout out goes to my family (my reason). My beautiful wife (Danielle), 3 children (Memphis, Jeremiah, and Azariah) my mother, and my Aunt Rose. This tribe doesn’t know how much their prayers and encouragement on my lowest days have been my fuel to keep going when I felt like I was running out of air.

Thank each of you for giving my the opportunity to be successful in every way even when it looked like I was close to losing it all. I love you with all of me.
