We had the good fortune of connecting with Annette Prophete and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Annette, what do you want people to remember about you?
When I think about legacy, the word that comes to mind is impact. A.MeanGirl Collection inspired by the film Mean Girls, which tells the story of how Cady Heron went out her way to break down the confidence of Regina George, The Mean Girl. No matter the prank, no matter the insult or attempt of humiliation, Regina stood confident through it all. This is the impact I envision for all my current and future consumers to embody. So what I would love for the brand to be remembered for is that same Regina George confidence. Whether, you’re reclaiming it, or have it and the garments are just a booster. I want my legacy to provide generations of confidence in which can not be broken.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Aside from the brand, I am currently employed as an Accountant Auditor. I’ve always had a passion for numbers aside from fashion. I’m currently also a full-time student intended to graduate in fall 2023 with a part-time internship. Through all these accomplishments, I utilize these opportunities to further grow my business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For all artsy and explorations for photo ops, we’d either go to Williamsburg in Brooklyn or Chelsea in the city. Aesthetics and scenery are a must. For nightlife, we would party and have drinks in the lower east side and since we both enjoy fine dining and great food, we would compose a bucket list of great restaurants to have dinner at throughout the week.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The core of my business stems from my family and friends. They are definitely my tribe! The encouraging push from my friends telling me I could and should start my own business or my brother sponsoring my first official campaign shoot. Even down to my family and friends being my #1 consumers since the very beginning. They’ve all played a significant role in the growth of the brand itself and I wouldn’t be who I am today without them.
