We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Podlin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
From a young age I had always been interested in business and having my own. When I was 5 and asked what I wanted to be when I grow up I would answer, a CEO! I went to business school, I attended the University of Georgia and have a degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. I had many small business ideas over the years, especially while I was stuck at home during Covid, but none of them came to fruition. In 2021 when I got engaged, I had my first professional photoshoot and it just all clicked! Growing up I always loved taking photos and taking photos of my friends. After the session, I had so much fun and knew that I wanted to provide the same experience for others!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Lifestyle Photographer in Atlanta Georgia. For most of my sessions I like to specialize in couples photography, whether that be a proposal, engagement photos, couples portraits, or maternity sessions! Most of my sessions take place in natural light outdoors. My main goal is to create photos you will cherish forever. Photos you always want to look back on, hang in your home, or show your children and grandchildren years from now.

My others goals as your photographer is to create an amazing client experience, build genuine connection with my clients, and document real honest memories. For me the client experience is one of my favorite parts, getting to know people and their story and help them plan an amazing session to document the season of life they are in is so exciting! I’m sure you know the saying, “if you love what you do you will never work a day in your life,” and this is truly how I feel getting to meet new people and work with them during their photography session.

There are many challenges that come with work and owning your own business. I think one piece of advice I’ve been given and have utilized in my business is outsourcing certain tasks. You are only one person and need a work life balance so I think it is beneficial to outsource parts of your business that may not bring you as much joy or you just do not have the time to manage on your own.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many great places to eat, drink, and visit in Atlanta.

Some of my favorite restaurants are the Garden Room, Lady Bird, Yeppa, Le Colonial, Fudo, and Taqueria Del Sol. I love to go to areas that have a ton of different food, drink, and activity options. So my recommendations would be Inman Park and the Beltline or West Midtown! I just had a friend in town and we spent all afternoon on the Beltline then went to The Easter for a concert at night, and it was so much fun!

I would also recommend getting coffee and taking a walk at either The Chastain and walking around the neighborhood/park or Dancing Goats Coffee and Piedmont Park. There are also great farmers markets in Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, and Brookhaven. There is also great shopping so I would take my friends to the malls and boutiques around town. Although we don’t have a beach I love getting some sun when it’s nice out so going to a pool or social club like rooftop L.O.A is a great option too.

I also love to workout. I use a Peloton at home but for classes around town I recommend Bach and Stellar Bodies Pilates!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It has only officially been a year of Anna Podlin Photography, but so many people have been so supportive. From the early stages of when this was just an idea to now, my family, now husband, and photographers I have worked with all urged me to jump into this. I have also had several close friends support my business which means more than they will ever know.
