Meet Anna Pham | Illustrator and Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Pham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It felt very natural to me to start my own business because my dad had his own business, and my uncles had theirs as well. I grew up in an entrepreneurial setting, so it felt almost normal to have a business. I was able to have that familial support with me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art and design processes are very much intertwined: I love to ideate and brainstorm, then execute the best ideas, and then narrow and refine the art/design. I draw inspiration from my Vietnamese heritage and background into my art practice, whether it is a digital print reproduction, a painting, or a brand toolkit. I am very excited about blending technology and the arts together because there are great tools out there to bring your visions to life. I got to this point in my life through lots of trials and errors. It was not easy, but I persevered with the support of friends and family and the chance to experiment and play in my art practice. An important lesson I have learned along the way is to make time for yourself and let your brain breathe. I made the mistake of saying yes to a lot of great opportunities and spreading myself very thin to the point of burning out. I have learned to give myself time to relax and unwind before starting on my next project.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Little Five Points, Ponce City, and Krog. I would show them basically everywhere I have been in Atlanta! A week is the perfect time to show my best friend around Atlanta. The main spots I would make sure to hit are the Beltline, High Museum of Art, Piedmont Park, and an event from the Bakery. The most interesting place is the ATL community art market. There are great people to talk to and connect with while browsing and shopping around for local art and food.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Friends and Family! I definitely wouldn’t be here without my time at the University of Georgia, Plainjane Designs, and See.Spark.Go.
