We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Marie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Lately, success to me is waking up everyday and feeling connected to my authentic self! There are many distractions and delusions in this world that will take you off track and keep you in confusion. I feel successful when I am staying true to myself and to God’s plan for me. I feel successful when I choose to create & express instead of repress the emotions that I am feeling. I feel successful when I am connecting with my family and my community in a conscious & clear way. One of the definitions of success is the accomplishment of a purpose. By me being fully Anna Marie, I am already successful because that is my purpose!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Fortunately, I have been blessed with many artistic gifts. I am an actress, singer, dancer, painter, & designer! My focus will shift to each one depending on the season I am in. Recently, I broke my ankle; so that was the Universe telling me to sit down & focus on my other gifts. Thus, I have started recording my music and marketing my clothing line. The challenge for me has been fully completing projects. With all of my interests, I tend to get pulled in a lot of directions. I was actually grateful for the break in my ankle, despite the pain of it; I was really able to slow down and take one thing at a time. All of my art & healing offerings are under Free to be Anna Marie. Along this healing journey, I have learned to embody all parts of myself and share them authentically with the world. My prayer is for others to feel inspired by my unique expression & to feel at peace with themselves. We are all free to be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a bestie coming I would definitely take them to Freedom Park and have a nice jam session/picnic. That is one of my favorite parks in the city, especially since its called Freedom Park. I would take them to Sol Dance, which is an ecstatic dance movement that is filled with beautiful people that come together to dance outside and to be free! Sol dance is a great way to connect to yourself and to the Atlanta community. I’d definitely go walk the beltine and stop by either my favorite Muchacho restaurant and/or go up to the Clermount rooftop for an evening drink. I’d be sure to show them MJQ for some late night dancing and find a concert at The Variety or The Tabernacle. All in all there is always something to do in Atlanta!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would really love to shoutout my parents! I give so much thanks to them everyday in my prayers and daily thoughts. They have supported me along this journey as an artist, yogi, & wild spirit. They, at times, may not have understood some of my life choices, but they have never left my side. They continued to love & provide for me, especially when I wasn’t able to do it for myself. They are incredibly generous and beautiful people. I am truly blessed to have them as my parents.
