We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Dauphin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own dance studio has really been my ultimate career goal since I was a teenager. I always knew that whatever I ended up doing with my life, dance was going to be involved in one way or another. Over the years, I’ve been lucky to have the opportunity to teach dance in a variety of different spaces, schools, and studios. I ultimately felt like it was time to make my own studio that I could call “home.” I wanted to create a space that my dancers would look forward to coming to, where they could feel seen and express themselves through the joy of dance.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I established Dauphin Dance Center in November of 2020 with the hopes of sharing my love for dance with the community that I grew up in. Dauphin Dance Center is a traditional dance studio offering classes in a variety of styles to students ages 3-18 in Tucker, GA. Our mission is to create a positive, fun studio environment while also offering excellent dance training. By owning this studio, I hope to spread the positive influence that dance has had in my life to all of my students.

Starting a business in the middle of a pandemic brought it’s own set of unique challenges, but I felt that more than ever people needed to lean into their hobbies and passions to help keep them connected to others in a positive light during such an isolating time. I was very involved teaching at my former studio and assisting the director there, so that experience helped me tremendously in knowing how to get started with my business. I am learning new things every single day throughout this process. On a personal level, I have had to learn to trust my instincts and be confident in my decisions. Through every challenge we have faced, I have been very lucky to have a great support system within my studio and my family to help me work through it.

We are about to begin our third full dance season at Dauphin Dance Center, and I am excited to see what this new year will bring! I am looking forward to adding more dancers in to our Dauphin Dance family and continuing to grow with our community. I hope to bring fun and unique dance experiences to all that come through our doors.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The cool part about Atlanta is that there are a wide variety of types of places to go and see. If you want to be more “in the city,” Ponce City Market is always a fun place to do some shopping, eat good food, or check-out a crazy rooftop view. Down the road you can visit Piedmont Park for an outdoor picnic. I personally love grabbing a treat at Revolution Doughnuts or Sweet Hut Bakery!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely like to dedicate my shoutout to my parents, Clay and Susan Weibel. I would never be where I am today without their unwavering support for me and my passion for dance.
