We had the good fortune of connecting with Anjna Goodwin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anjna, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my family, and my clients. Also my consistency, drive, hustle mentality and believing in myself! Without any of the above I wouldn’t be who I am today! I have an amazing support system from my boyfriend and his family to my own. I have an amazing clientele base that trust me and my visions. I have become so hungry for success that I will literally do anything to make my dreams come true. I am always consistent with my dreams and I truly believe without my drive and hustle I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I eat sleep and breathe my dreams. By just believing in myself I have grown from working for others to working for myself full time since I was 19 years old! Consistency is always the most important factor when you want to accomplish anything.

I have always been an artist for as long as I could remember. I remember being so young and always going to my schools office asking to take art classes. I am so proud to say all those days in art paid off, I am not surprised to see where I am today. I honestly just never thought I would be a cake artist. I had other dreams of becoming a traveling nurse but art came back into my life at 18 and I just couldn’t let it go this time. I started doing cakes at 18 and at 20 I decided to go full time with doing cakes and left my dreams of nursing school. It was definitely not easy to get to this point, it’s been many nights crying and honestly being confused. I honestly wasn’t happy with being a nurse, it was something I was doing to make others happy. When I started cakes I couldn’t be more excited to make that my dream job! This journey has definitely taught me to make myself happy at all times and never give up on my dreams. I’ve had to sacrifice a lot of things along the way to get to where I am. I would want the world to know that my brand is my everything, I put my all into this. We make everything with love, every cake we touch is with poise. Not only does our cakes taste amazing but they look amazing as well. Every cake is different and very unique, it fits our clients every need!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to the city! They have some of the best restaurants and they are black owned. Downtown has a river walk and you can see the other county! I’m a seafood lover and I know they would love it too, so we would hit Joe Meur’s or Sedona!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give thanks to my boyfriend, his granny, my grandfather, my clients and family! They literally pour into my business just as I would. When I started this idea they supported me all the way, I could never repay them for all they have done. My boyfriend always encouragements me to never give up and when I’m overwhelmed he’s there to help me as best as he can. His grandmother and my grandfather always give me their best support to fuel my business! The resources they give me helped paved the way for who I am today. I couldn’t be more thankful to have such amazing people around me.
