We had the good fortune of connecting with Anissa Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anissa, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The most important decision I’ve made to contribute to my business was to start believing in myself. I knew I was capable of doing an outstanding job on my clients but I did not believe in myself. Once I started believing in myself my work started to show for itself.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In 2019 I started my business Lifesizedoll hair co , not knowing a lot about having a business I struggled a lot and ended up getting discouraged so I stopped my business. I did not want to close completely because hair is my passion so I began to research more to gain knowledge. In January of 2020 I decided to relaunch my business and take things more serious. Things were going great I started taking classes for services I provided I took a wig install class and a wig making class from yazzyj and my skills improved so much. In may that’s when things started to get rocky for me my personal life started taking a tole on me and it effected my hair business. I got very inconsistent with posting and showing up for my business. It was not until December of 2021 when I had a reality check and took accountability for things I was doing that I could do 10x better. It’s now 2022 and I am not where I want to be with my business but I know for sure I am on the right track my mental itself is so much better and my mindset is more positive. I’m so happy and grateful for the things that I did encounter in the past years because it definitely molded me even though I’m not completely 100% molded into the women I want to be I know what I’m getting there. Something that I’m very proud of myself for is stepping outside of my comfort zone and getting involved with the community. I remember my very first ooo up shop that was a test for myself they let all the vendors come on the mic and introduce ourselves and our business and I did it I was nervous but I did it. That just shows you never know until you try. I feel my hair business stands out because it’s not about being a doll it’s about stepping out of your shell and gaining your confidence. Lifesizedolls don’t lose their value once their opened, it’s time to step out the box.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my best friend to Houston Texas, we would stay at the Westin Houston downtown, we would visit the a.m eatery , the union kitchen , steak spot, the galleria, aquarium, boardwalk, and definitely can’t forget shopping at the mall.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely like to make a big shout out to angel she the owner of omega marketing & co and has been doing a wonderful job with helping me with my marketing. I would also like to give a big shout out to Arkayla she’s the owner of The best experience.
Both of them have been helping me take my business to the next step as far as marketing, organizing , content creating, structuring my social media to gain more traffic being models for styles and so much more they are my rock I love them.
