We had the good fortune of connecting with Anime Zayy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anime, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Since I was a little boy I always knew that I was gonna do something in the music industry growing up. I just didn’t know what it was going to be. My mom and my day were both artist of themselves. My mom being a neo/soul singer and my dad a rapper. I even have cousins signed to labels so it was bound to happen. Rap wasn’t my first choice tho I started as a producer and a engineer working behind the scenes. I thought that was gonna be my ticket to the top! One of my bros I was recording with was like “ hey you should start rapping too” that’s how it really started for me. I love it and want this to be my career.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music is for literally everybody. I make mostly rap music but i do R&B I do indie music just something to vibe with I just love making music it can be with anybody i just love music. I think what sets me apart from others is that I’m willing to take that next sound to a new level. Where I’m from nobody sounds like me. With my music I strive to make people float feel like they’re in space in every song just a good feeling in your chest. I’m proud that I sound like the way i do bc it’s unique it’s different. It was also difficult bc people didn’t understand so they didn’t want to listen made my journey to the top very hard it’s still kind of hard but it’s getting easier on the road. I’m from a hood they don’t listen to my type of music. It’s straight trap music. So to overcome it. I mixed my melodic sound with the trap instrumentals with literally any instrumental and I found a new sound. It was similar yet different and people loved it. I dropped a song called “ “Orange Chicken” on all platforms blew up in my city it was a new sound they weren’t use to but the trap beat was so amazing and it matched with my lyrics i got a round of applause after that I’ve been dropping dope music after that. Drop my Album “Anime World”. Gaining more followers and supports. I’m still on my journey but the lesson that I’ve learned is to never give up. You’re gonna fall but keep getting up and create dope music. Somebody is gonna like your music. It only takes one to build an empire.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I live in Athens Georgia home of the dawgs! If my best friend was visiting if they’re hungry I would take them yo Raising Canes. It is so good they would have to try it! If it’s the fall would definitely have to take them to a UGA football game it is so fun and entertaining. The city of Athens is very diverse get to see a lot of unique fashion and unique people. Graffiti on the walls get to see sculptures and interesting views. There’s this amazing boba place I would love to take my friends to called Ding Tea they have the best boba in my opinion top tier. Hang out spots I would take them on the outskirts of downtown and just chill. Athens is a dope spot not too far from Atlanta and not too far from the country side.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out all of my Fans/supports. my family, my girl, and my friends. Would also love to shout out my Manager for helping me pursue my dreams. Without them I wouldn’t be Me
