We had the good fortune of connecting with AngelTheStar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi AngelTheStar, why did you pursue a creative career?
People ask me this question all the time. I believe music chose me! Since I was a little girl, I was always singing and dancing. I was always in plays, school chorus, and I loved it, so there was never a shock to me or my family when I chose this path as profession.Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is AngelTheStar, I’m a singer, songwriter, and anti bullying advocate. I got started singing like most singers in the church, so I’ve been singing all my life. I got my start singing professionally in 2008, when I was chosen to sing background for Grammy nominated artist Musiq Soulchild. I’ve had the privilege of sharing the stage and touring  with Neyo, Jazmine Sullivian, Anthony Hamilton and the list goes on. My gift has allowed me to travel nationally and internationally, the Caribbean, Australia, and New Zealand. There definitely were times where it wasn’t easy, but that’s life. However, when things got a little ruff, I always saw it as a learning experience. No matter what I went through, I always stayed focused on the bigger picture and that was to one day be a solo artist, which I am today. I would say the biggest lesson I’ve learned is to Never Give Up!  I  know it may seem like a cliche, but if you give up on everything you worked on up to this point, you will never know what you could become, or what lives you could’ve touched or influenced. With that being said, I want the world to know that not only am I an  artist, but i’m a person who loves to help people achieve their dreams and see their true potential. My story has always been a story about a person who had a dream and went after them, and I want other people out there with Big dreams such as I to see that it is possible and attainable. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Omg, its Atlanta so there’s always good spots to visit in the city. For starters I woud say Little 5 points its very trendy, cool, and laid back and the shops are very unique so you’ll find things there that no one has. Also, my fav place to eat when im in that area is Savage Pizza, the best! 2. Another good spot is Le Petite Marche. It’s one of the best places in the city for lunch and brunch. Their french toast sandwich is amazing, and their panini’s are mmm good! My fav is the Californian. 3. Last, but not least my little hang out spot is Atlantic Station, its like being in a city within the city. It has all types of restaurants, shops, and movie theater. Is a place for everyoneThe Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother Prophetess Roberta Hines, who’s no longer here with me, but she’s defeinitly here in spirit. Im forever grateful for all the things she’s taught me as a woman and as a black woman in this music industry. I defenitly wouldnt be where I am now without her.
