We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Fabián Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel Fabián, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Since I was a kid, there was always something about the movies that brought me to life. That feeling I felt from a performer, it would always be transmitted to me. Growing up my parents would always be singing, playing the guitar or doing theatre; I always told myself that I wanted to do it someday, but I was afraid of going for it. Now, these days, being an actor gives me so much life, I feel so lucky to be that in-between and show a portion of reality to the spectator, to let them know that they’re not alone.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a proud latino born and raised in a small town in Puerto Rico. I have a bachelor’s degree in acting from the University of Puerto Rico, and since I was in college I started working towards being a well round artist. For that, I started working outside in different productions as an actor, model, dancer, singer, etc., so I’ve worked my way up step by step. I founded my theater company back in Puerto Rico, “Artescena”, and proud to have done some projects with it. I’ve hard the blessing of working on TV, and as well producing some tv shows. I came to Atlanta to pursue my dreams, to search for more, to learn and explore my career. Some of the highlights include being part of Lionsgate’s movie “The Plane” alongside Gerald Butler, also being part of the Spanish dubbing of Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” and I finished a production of “Homos or Everyone in America” as part of Out Front Theatre. I always say, follow your dreams, no matter what, and don’t worry about downfalls, they always make you stronger.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m new in town, so I don’t know lots of places, but definitely love Ponce Market and the belt line, it’s just one of those places where you can hang out with your friends, eat something and walk around the beauties of the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story is becoming reality thanks to the support of my family, my parents, my friends and my partner Jeremy.
