We had the good fortune of connecting with Andria Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andria, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Initially when I started my business, I was driven by the desire to work for myself with flexible hours. It was important to me to be able to re-enter the work force while still being able to spend time with my kids. In addition to this, I was in a place where I was ready to create my own designs surrounded by a team of qualified employees who shared my passion of making a difference in other people’s lives through personal relationships.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my journey studying interior design at the University of Georgia. After I earned my degree, I started my career on the wholesale side of the industry working in furniture and fabric show rooms. I then began to work for other designers, getting hands on experience working with clients and learning the business. Once I finally felt ready, I took a step out on my own on a consultation-only basis. In 2016 with the encouragement of friends and family, I decided to launch Haven Lane Design as a full service interior design firm. Starting my own business was as easy as putting one foot in front of another, but there was many steps I had to take. This required me to rely on lots of hard work and a passion for the business. Haven Lane Design handles projects of all sizes, commercial and residential, interior and exterior. We have many strengths as a business, but our most notable would be our very personal relationship with each customer. We get to know each client on a deep level and handle each project as if it was our own. Additionally, we pride ourselves on our ability to cater to any design style. One of the most important things to me when starting Haven Lane Design was that we would be a business that gave back. That is why we make monthly donations to a local nonprofit and stay involved in the community.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve lived in Johns Creek, Georgia for the past 18 years and I have grown to love the ever changing and close knit community. In the broader Atlanta area, one of my favorite places is the Rooftop at Ponce City Market. This is a spot to see the surrounding city and enjoy great food and fun activities. Additionally to fun activities, the Atlanta area has some great eateries as well. Some of my notable favorites would include Lapeer in Alpharetta, Table and Maine in Roswell, and Rumi’s Kitchen at the Avalon.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely want to take a moment to recognize the hard work my team puts in day in and day out. I also would love to thank my parents, whom without I would never have started a business. I was inspired by their hard work ethics and my mother’s previous experience as a designer. I am thankful for my husband and my kids for continually supporting and encouraging me.
