Meet Andrew Redman | Sports Visual Storyteller & Social Media Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Redman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrew, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Being so young, I believe it is the most important time in my life to take a risk because I have a lot of time to recoup. Having this mindset has kept me from backing out of new opportunities that were unfamiliar to me without being scared of failure. In my career I have taken chances that have failed, but through perseverance I have also accumulated many successful outcomes. One job in particular led me to several of the connections I have today. I originally took this job for free, but it was a risk I was willing to take. The job paid off, and has allowed me to work for athletes and brands I have always admired.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Through the photos and videos that I take of athletic events, I am a sports storyteller. Every videographer has their own style and I believe every style adds so much to the athletic narrative. I recently did freelance work for a professional baseball franchise to create content for their large sporting events. Additionally, starting this fall, I will be working for my college, Georgia Southern University (Go Eagles!), for their athletic events. Being 18 and knowing what I love and being able to pursue it is truly amazing. “Getting there” isn’t always the easiest, but once accomplished, is very rewarding. It takes patience, bravery and persistence to meet new people and work long hours to ensure deadlines are met. I believe having a goal to keep you on track and a passion for doing what you love is the most fulfilling thing you can have in your life. There are many people close to me who know it hasn’t always been easy to create, manage a brand, and maintain my academic pursuits simultaneously. When people hire me and want to work with me, I feel honored and excited to capture their special moments that they can remember for a lifetime.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend were to come into town, there are several spots we would cover from ATL to the surrounding areas. I would take them to the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke, and being a huge sports fan, the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta is a for sure hit. I also love a classic Varsity dog and the mornings at the Atlanta Breakfast Club. Finally, you can’t forget The Battery, which is an amazing time near the home of the Braves regardless if a game is going on or not.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Many people have helped me to be in the position I am today. My parents and uncle have always supported me throughout the growth of my content and skills. My film teachers inspired and helped me through more than just film but my life as a whole. I also have so much gratitude for all of the other creators that have helped me create and connect including @JDOPEFX and @_chasethomas_ and to my friend, Keaton, who helped me find the fun in the creation of my content. Overall, whether it was working with me or giving me the support to keep going, I am so lucky to have people around me that bring so much positivity and encouragement into my life.
