We had the good fortune of connecting with Andre’ Renee’ Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andre’ Renee’, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want people to know I care about our youth. I’m considered an author, playwright, and poet, however, I want the world to know my children’s books mean the world to me. Furthermore, I write for them, to encourage, uplift and give them the power to make the right decisions.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a businessman, and I’ve only worked for myself. In 2017. I finally found my passion is writing. I started with children’s books, Which progressed to poetry and scriptwriting. I then developed a love of theater writing. As a playwright, I only wrote three plays. As I reflect on that, I am elated, because I wrote three plays!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A time for leisure has eluded me for some time, when my friends come into town they often take the wheel. They have to kidnap me to have a good time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Steve Harvey gave me the courage to take the leap. Les Brown reminded me that when I fall, I should land on my back, and when I look up, that’s where I need to go. Jay Z kept straight at the folk on the road. We need to make our own path in life.
