We had the good fortune of connecting with Andre Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andre, what do you attribute your success to?
I want to be successful in being able to make others successful. I want to make ways to help others that have a dream. I want to show people that anything is possible and that being successful doesn’t have to mean that you are rich. Being successful is about appreciating everything about yourself knowing that you are living your life by doing what you love to do. I’m a filmmaker and music producer, I’m looking to be able to create a strong team of individuals that have create minds such as myself.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been writing poetry and drawing images since I was young. I was in middle school 5 grade when I received my first award for the best artwork of all middle schools in the US. The artwork was apart of Fairing Housing project. I remember being on the Wtoc news channel in Savannah with Sunny Dixon and Mayor Floyd Adams. I also had dinner with the mayor at Hyatt HOTEL downtown Savannah. My first check was $200 from my award. I was young so I felt like that was a lot of money. Since then I started taking my talent further because I knew I was born to be an artist. I’m a artist in many ways. I do music, film, draw, and write out of passion. I have a different view of life. My creativity have messages and stories behind them and that’s what make my work unique. I use my artist skills to express myself and it helped me maintain focus for a long time. I’ve won Music Awards, Filmmaking Awards and some of my short films have been selected for film festivals in which I’m very proud of those accomplishments. Pursuing a career and chasing a dream is definitely not easy. It’s obstacles you have to overcome and really takes a strong mind to stay organized. It’s a lot of challenges because it’s a lot of contestants and very talented individuals besides ourselves. I try to make things as easy as possible by just being me and creating things in my own way to stand out from others. I want the world to know that I’ve been on a roller coaster of life trying to pursue my dream and produce some great projects for the world to view and learn from. I’m here to make a change in the world in my own creative way. You all will be witnessing some of the greatest movies produced and directed by me and my preferred team members. Epicscopefilm is the future film production company.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from Savannah Georgia but there is no place like visiting New York to have a great time. Time square is full of inspiration especially for people with dreams. We would take a tour around Manhattan and first stop to eat their Famous Pizza from $99cent Pizza spot on Lexington and 35th The. We will go for dinner at Zavo’s to eat some of their great meals. After that we would go out to a night spot like the Lullaby or Coney Island Theatre. I like going to the Barclay Center as well to catch some great Concerts.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
