We had the good fortune of connecting with Andi Banks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andi, what do you attribute your success to?
Important factors of success for me are a solid team and good work ethic. I wouldn’t be where I am without the team I have backing me. An artist can only do so much on their own, and I realized that very quickly. When I first started on my journey as an independent artist all I knew to do was create and put that creation out for people to hear. I was producing, writing, recording, and was exhausting myself. I didn’t have the proper resources that I needed to put out the quality of sound that I wanted, and was lost with what to do next. Not only was I at a standstill on my own, I was so uneducated on the business side of music and how much more went into being an independent artist. Luckily I found my management Poise, and they have mentored and managed me. Shortly after acquiring a team, I have recorded multiple songs, including my new single ‘UP’ that has recently been released on all music platforms. The amount of work and effort that needs to be put in DAILY, people on the outside don’t realize. You have to be willing to lose sleep, to have those really long nights to get the work done. My team helps me push through obstacles and we teach each other constantly.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a singer, songwriter and musician. I’ve been heavily influenced by music my entire life, and grew up in a family of musicians. When I was younger my siblings and I would be sitting in band practices with my parents, and I think that is what made it so easy to catch on to anything musical throughout my life. I’ve been singing ever since I could talk, and figured out how to sing harmonies at a very very young age. I play seven instruments including piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, trumpet, French horn, and kalimba (finger piano). My music taste ranges from pop, rnb, to classical, heavy metal, hip hop and more. So when it comes to my music, all of those musical influences and different aspects of each genre all poke out a bit in my personal style. I love to get in the booth and sit down with other creatives because you never know what beautiful piece of work is going to be created next.

I’m excited to share that my first official single has been released to all music streaming platforms. I’ve recorded multiple songs this past year with a grammy award winning producer, that I am eager to show the world, as well as the visuals that will be with each single. I put my entire being into my music, and to finally be able to share my art with the world is probably one of the best feelings. I constantly post new remixes or music content to my social media accounts (@_andibanks) to give my fans as much music as I can.

It’s been a long road to get to this point, though. Like I mentioned before, I’ve been singing and making music for awhile. I decided when I graduated high school that I was going to take it seriously and make a career out of what I love to do. There were some ups and downs, and I had no idea at the time how much work truly needed to go into being an indie artist. In 2020 I knew I needed to step things up, that is when I met my management team, Poise. Not only have they mentored and managed me, they’ve helped me through rough times and have become like a family to me. Since then I have elevated myself and my music style. I’ve grown tremendously as an artist and I have learned so many lessons throughout my journey so far. I’ve learned how important it is to stay true to yourself, to set boundaries, take time for self care. I’ve also learned how important it is to take care of yourself and what you put into your body. You can only push yourself so far before your body and mind pushes back.

I want the world to know that Andi Banks is here, and I’m not going anywhere. I want to bring depth and inspiration to those who seek it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had friends visiting we would probably go to the aquarium, museum of art, or botanical gardens. My life is so fast pace so it’s nice to relax and go to some beautiful places.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shout out to my management team and my family. They believed in me, sometimes more than I believed in myself. It’s crazy to look back and see where I was 2-3 years ago, and where I’m at now. I owe it all to the dedication and love of my family, and my management team Poise. It was a long road to get here, and the growth is continuing everyday.
