We had the good fortune of connecting with Anastasia Smith-Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anastasia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was out of work for 5 months after graduating with my Bachelor’s. During that time I thought about how I could take my income into my own hands so I thought researched consulting work. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to get started but knew I needed to do something. During alone time with God he confirmed that my serving needed to be in the area of serving Women in Business, and my business was birthed.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always had a very mature approach to everything growing up; this afforded me so many opportunities from scholarships, to jobs, and now a business. Most of my experience has come from working with and serving people in my community. Through some volunteer work with a Christian organization called Young Life, I was recruited to work with a well known worldwide youth organization- the Boys & Girls Club. It was here that my professionalism skyrocketed. I was working part time as a Youth Professional and full time as an Entrepreneur. From this experience I was able to manage three small businesses and exceed the expectations placed before me with the Club. This was not an easy charge, there would be many days where I forgot to eat and loss plenty of rest and it began to effect both of my professional ventures in one way or another. My business was a blessing to my Clients, but there was only one of me and each of them wanted more of my time. While at the Club I was doing so well that they wanted to bring me on full time, this would eliminate the extra time I had to work in my business. During this time I decided to invest in my first employee, this allowed me to delegate tasks that I no longer had time to do, I also trained my students to take on tasks at the Club that helped relieve my load as well. After my first hire things seemed to be getting back in order, and that is when I decided I wanted to restructure my business to become a “mini-me” factory. I wanted to take women who wanted to start taking control of their income and teach them what I knew; especially young women fresh out of High School and College. When people see Very Bossy LLC, I want them to feel empowered to be the very boss their life needs, in every capacity. When they see me or hear my name I want them to associate it with the term “The Finisher”, simply because if I’m on a tasks, it gets done.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I’d like to show shoutout my Clients, Women entrepreneurs in my hometown who gave me and Very Bossy LLC a chance. So, THANK YOU LocsByLex, Wright Way 2 Go, and IMPower Center Inc. My second shoutout goes to women of all ages who are currently in a space where they are looking for the “what” in their life concerning what they are meant to do. I pray that God reveals where He needs you to serve like He did with me! And last but not least, to the beautiful souls of the young women I have served in the Michiana region, remember to stay BOSSY and always believe in your dreams!
