We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Nichols and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, what is the most important factor behind your success?
In my opinion what makes a brand successful is staying true to who you are and what you do best. Don’t try to be everyone else, and don’t try to please everyone. If you follow your heart and continue to produce a product that you were proud of then your company will be successful. I have always believed that if you stay true to yourself the right clients will find you! You are the brand and you are what sets your company apart from others that do the same thing. Be you!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The thing that sets my company apart from others is the level of customer service. My team works really hard to be creative and design with every clients personality in mind. We also consider the budget, location, and resources available to us when we design the decor for their event. We try to make each event unique and personalized. It helps that my background includes catering, florals, rentals and layout design. Having knowledge in all these areas helps me design event decor in a more inclusive way for a cohesive design. I am most proud of my events that carry the theme through every aspect of the event from the entry to the exit!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta and The surrounding suburbs have a lot to offer! You can do anything you want from theme parks to riding horses to spending the day at the lake. My perfect day would be waking up and having breakfast at a small local café like Bagelicious and then heading to a local park like Kennesaw Mountain for a quick hike to enjoy nature, then I would head to the lake to enjoy a boat ride and a little sunshine at Altoona Lake. After that a great lunch at a local restaurant in historic Woodstock followed by some shopping and bargain hunting at one of the many Goodwills in the area! For happy hour I would drive downtown to Krog Street Market or Ponce City and have a cocktail and wander the shops. Then I would head over to Mojave for dinner on the river and then go see a Braves game or to the Aquarium for some fun!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success is due to the mentorship and experience I’ve had working for other small family owned businesses. I started my career at Epting Events working for an incredibly creative and dynamic man who definitely made a mark with his brand. Then I went to work for Added Touch Catering where owner Sandra Bank puts her heart and soul into every event she caters. At We Rent Atlanta, family comes first and those values helped me learn balance between work and home. Working for so many family owned small businesses helped me to know what to do in my own small business.
