We had the good fortune of connecting with Amina Sahovic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amina, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is huge for me. I believe I have always been the type of person to just go for what I want. If an idea/ thought is consuming my mind, that must mean it is meant for me to pursue it. There are risks you must be logical about, but I would rather make it happen for myself than regret not doing so later. Glossy and Bossy in itself was a risk. Being a Junior in high school, I did not know anything about running a business so I was entering a gray area, but I knew this! I just could not stop thinking about doing it for myself and building an empire through my brand, and that is how I knew it was meant for me. You can think about the benefits/ repercussions later, do what makes you feel fulfilled.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
While Glossy and Bossy in itself is something I hold close to my heart, I found a deeper passion through my brand. I realized how many visions I create in my head on the daily. To me, everything is art. It’s about romanticizing every situation in your life, and expressing it creatively no matter how it made you feel. Within my brand, you will see that I take Marketing very seriously. Not only am I the creative director for my brand, but I also manage all of my social media sites to match my vision. Every time I have a minor inconvenience or even a major win, these are forms of inspiration for me. Hopefully in the future, I will have the opportunity to use my creativity for other brands as well. Creative direction for me is really a sneak peek into my mind.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Like I said, I love art. Atlanta is the home of many museums, all full of Culture. Whether it be the High museum, the Fashion museum, a Historic Museum, etc. , you can find it here. Depending on your taste, there are also several restaurants in Atlanta to choose from, and you can never go wrong with good food. Last but not least, fashion. In Atlanta, there are endless opportunities for fashion. You can shop from small businesses, luxury apparel, Underground Atlanta, etc. There is so much talent in this one city, and it constantly motivates me.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family was my first support system throughout the process. I am sure they did not know all that would come from Glossy and Bossy, but I did and they saw my passion for it. My mom is the reason Glossy and Bossy has the name it has, I owe that all to her. While they were there for me throughout every step, they allowed me to steer right and wrong in the Business by myself. Whatever I wanted to do, I went for it and they were right behind me applauding every time. In my first year of college though, I met a group of friends who helped me find myself. They are the reason I felt so comfortable to creatively express myself. I had never met anyone like them, and they truly helped me get out of my comfort zone and blossom into the woman I am becoming today.
