We had the good fortune of connecting with AMG and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi AMG, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career because it was something I was running towards but away from all my life. You know how you have been living your life for others, but somehow you still don’t feel satisfied. Yeah, you are gaining small victories throughout the process but nothing fulfilling. That’s how I knew I needed to pursue things for me and not what others thought I should be doing or where I should be. I had been modeling and acting since the tender age of five years old. It was time for me to live for me. That’s how I ended up moving to Atlanta and going hard with modeling and acting; more so modeling though. Everything else just kind of fell into place.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My life motto is “People feel people.” It is such a simple phrase, but so much impact behind the meaning. I really heard it on one of Big Sean’s albums where his father breaks down the dynamic of the phrase. The funny thing is I had been saying this phrase for years. Imagine being in a call center and having to sell a service over the phone by capturing the potential customer, before the person hangs up. WHEW! That’s the true definition of making someone feel you. A complete stranger feel you and feel enough comfort to give you their card information over the phone. It takes some next level deep personal connection to get the person to feel like they have nothing to lose. Well if I could do it for those individuals, I knew I had to have the same effect on those I met face to face. People don’t understand how personal connections and networking can help with the growth of their career. I’ve been able to maintain a career by creating opportunities by the conversations I have with likeminded individuals. You have to know that being timid in this industry won’t get you far. You want to always leave a good and lasting impression. It always must come from a genuine place and not from a personal gain. How can I help you be better while helping myself be better at the same time? Sometimes you will do things without it not having any benefit for you, at least not in the moment. Next thing you know, you’re receiving a phone call or text that’s an opportunity for you. Nothings ever easy, because you have to put in work behind that prayer. I want people to know that throughout the journey I have been on, none of it was for me. I thrive and gain the most by putting others in the position to do better. I took this journey so I can reach back to others and help them to get to where I am and even further. This journey is beyond me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Normally when my friends come in town, we have to get some good eats. I am a pescatarian now, so my selection has changed but who doesn’t love seafood? Well I would definitely take them to my favorite eateries. Eclipse De Luna, Tacos & Tequila, Pirate Boil, Hammocks, Kabob Land, and Tastee Spoon. My hangout spots would be the rooftop on Ponce, Piedmont Park, Roswell Waterfalls, Stone Mountain, and I like to Dalrymple road from Sandy Springs to Marietta to see the nice houses. If we going to get good drinks, I am going to where my friends bartend because I know it’s going to be a good time. I normally go to Peter Street or lounges. We have to hit BQE brunch though so we can have a good ol’ time. I try to take people to Boogalou get a flick on the swings at the bar. Friday’s, I am at Suite Lounge on the rooftop in the summer. I am more of a vibe person than a club person. I would rather have a BBQ at my clubhouse with the pool. We kick it and create our own fun with games I have provided to my guests. I am always down for a game night!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Timberly Byrd has a big part in my role here in Atlanta. She has helped me in so many ways into transitioning to making Atlanta into my second home. I wouldn’t be where I am honestly if it wasn’t for her and her contributions.
