We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Spence-Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to be in control. In control of my time , my money, and my creativity. I was over having to answer to other people who never took the time to even consider your potential. So, when I started I saw it as an opportunity to give me a chance for once. To serve my community and walk in my purpose. Fear and all! It’s a great thing to wake up every day and know you’re doing something you love.
What should our readers know about your business?
I have multiple businesses but the two I am most proud of is my social media management business and my newest business venture, D&A. Curated by myself and my business partner Kadesha Robinson. My social media management business is just that managing the social medias of my clients and ensuring they learn the skills and what it takes to be impactful on social media. From the aesthetics, trends, content, and their social media presence on a whole. I make sure they set goals and reach them by any means necessary. As far as D&A, it’s an one stop shop business. Offering services from event management/coordination to balloon archery services. We are a well rounded duo that can do a great number of things to meet our clients needs. We have our ears to the ground and help our clients find the best to ensure that their event is a success. I am most proud about keeping going. Despite how many doors got closed on me, despite how many people find interest but don’t follow-through. I keep going, and it’s because I believe. I believe in me, I believe in us. And I believe I have what people need. I got to where I am today by the grace of god, faith, and action. It’s not easy, you deal with a lot emotionally, and physically. I deal with imposter syndrome every other week. But, it’s worth it! I push through because I’m passionate about this. It’s not about the money, it’s about my purpose. And my purpose is to make a positive mark in every/any way I can. I learned that as long as you are genuine and continue to be genuine and put yourself out there. Good things will follow and find you. It’s not how much money you have. And it’s not entirely on who you know. A big part of it is how you made them feel. I want the world to not know but feel love through my brand and story. To be inspired to be/do more. To be motivated to do more things that make a smile form on their face. I want them to know that my brand and story is a perfect example of hope, love, and faith.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time ever. I would take them to SCADFASH to allow them to experience some good ole fashion with the best scenery of the city after. Than we would go to slutty vegan, because who doesn’t love a burger that’s not only healthy but tastes amazing! And then downtown to enjoy the nightlife of Atlanta mixed with a little wine tasting and culture! The most exciting place to go in Atlanta, in my opinion, are marketing events. You get to see all types of people! It’s luxurious, it’s culture, it’s eye-opening, it’s inspiring.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out Patrice Mcnish also known as Pat from Perfumes with Pat. She believed in me and hired me to be her Manager. And that pushed me to be better everyday. Her ig is @perfumeswithpat and YT is Perfumeswithpat as well. I would also like to shoutout my husband for his support and telling me I am capable when I thought I wasn’t. And for being a great example of going after it for me.
