We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Beck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
The notion that you have to work super hard and around the clock is crazy to me. You don’t have to work ALL the time. Not saying I don’t work hard. I think the most important factor behind my success is my work ethic. There are plenty of people that do what I do, but I’d like to believe that no one can out work me. I’m very passionate and I want the best for the people I work with. I’ve figured out how to give my best without burning out quickly. As a Health and Wellness Coach, I have to work on myself so that I can be my best. When I am whole, I can pour more into my clients. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Work smart. Be organized. Be sufficient. Those things can make your work so much smoother and you won’t “feel” like you’re working, so it’s less stressful. You can continue to love what you do and do it well, while also continuing to be whole. People don’t start businesses to work themselves to death. You don’t have to work 24 hours a day 365 days per year to be successful. You can work 4 days a week if you want. You just have to give 200% on the days you show up!

What would you like the world to know about your business?
What I want the world to know about Killin It Queendom and the work we do is that we are loving each other to health. It’s our mission to get you healthy holistically so that you can pour into the next woman, and so on. KIQ is more than a business, we are family.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I’m a homebody, but definitely BQE on Edgewood or Ms. Icey’s Kitchen on Clairmont for brunch. That’s a must.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
That’s a tough one. Immediately my friend Monique Overstreet comes to mind. She treats my business as of it were her own, and I’m grateful for her. I have such an amazing group of friends and family that pour so much into me and my business and because of them, I am who I am.
