We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Means and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting this business really stemmed from a moment of realization after stepping away from my teaching career. I’d spent 15 years as a primary teacher then substitute teacher, and while I loved working with kids, I eventually felt mentally and physically drained and unsupported. Walking away was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but it was also the start of something new. I knew I needed to take care of myself, to heal, and to find what it meant to thrive rather than just get by.

As I focused on my own journey—prioritizing my mental and physical health—I began to realize that so many other women felt this same sense of survival mode without truly feeling fulfilled or joyful. That’s when the idea of my business started to take shape. I wanted to create something that would support other women on their own paths to thriving, giving them the tools, encouragement, and community to feel empowered in their lives.

Using my background in education and my love for creative things like lifestyle content, art, and lettering, I’ve been able to design programs and create resources that speak to women wherever they are in their journeys. My business is all about helping others move from survival mode and/or overwhelm into a place of genuine thriving, and it’s rooted in my belief that we all deserve to feel fulfilled and empowered. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch this vision come to life and see it make a difference in the lives of others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m the founder of Thrive 24 Design, a business dedicated to helping women shift from overwhelmed to thriving. My work is about providing tools, resources, and guidance that help women reclaim their energy, joy, and purpose. What sets Thrive 24 apart is our dual focus: empowering women in their personal lives and helping women entrepreneurs create powerful brand identities that align with their mission and values.

Our branding services are built around the same principles as our thriving framework—clarity, intention, and alignment. Whether it’s designing a standout logo, crafting a cohesive style guide, or refreshing a brand’s visuals, we partner with women-led businesses to ensure their brands reflect who they are and what they stand for. I love helping clients bring their vision to life in a way that not only looks beautiful but also feels authentic and aligned.

Getting to where I am today professionally wasn’t easy. Before launching Thrive 24 Design, I spent 15 years as an elementary school teacher. I left the profession burned out and battling crippling anxiety. That season of struggle is what led me to prioritize my own thriving journey. I had to learn how to build a foundation for myself when I felt like I had nothing left to give. It’s a big reason why my work now resonates with women who feel overwhelmed; I’ve been there, and I know firsthand what it takes to rebuild.

Overcoming challenges meant getting comfortable with imperfection, asking for help, and taking small, consistent steps forward. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the power of perseverance. There were moments when doubt crept in or things didn’t work out as planned, but staying connected to my “why” always helped me refocus.

If there’s one thing I’d want the world to know about me and my brand, it’s this: You can thrive, no matter the circumstances. Life doesn’t have to feel like a never-ending to-do list. At Thrive 24 Design, we believe in creating space for what truly matters and empowering women to take ownership of their journey. Whether that’s reclaiming your personal life or elevating your business with a brand identity you’re proud of, transformation is possible when you take one intentional step at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friends are from here, but if a new friend were visiting Atlanta, I’d plan an itinerary that highlights the city’s rich culture, incredible food, and unique vibe—focusing on Black-owned gems.

We’d kick things off with brunch at The Breakfast Boys, where the atmosphere pairs perfectly with dishes like their signature shrimp and grits. For dinner, we’d visit Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours to enjoy their creative twist on Southern cuisine. And of course, a stop at Le Petit Marche for a cozy breakfast or lunch is a must—it’s a neighborhood favorite for good reason!

Throughout the week, we’d dive into Atlanta’s history and culture with stops at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, The Municipal Market, The King Center, and The Trap Music Museum. For some fun and relaxation, a stroll along the Atlanta BeltLine or a peaceful visit to one of the many Nature Preserves in the metro area would balance out the busier days. And for more foodie experiences, I’d make sure we visit Milk & Honey (not to be confused with The Real Milk & Honey) for their southern dishes like the Chop House, and Roc South for an upscale take on Southern comfort food.

Atlanta is full of vibrant energy, creative expression, and unmatched Southern hospitality. Whether enjoying Soul food, exploring the city’s deep history, or taking in its thriving art and music scene, my goal would be to give my friend an experience that captures the heart of Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My gosh… first, God and my family. Especially, my mom and sister. They’re my rocks. My EDU sisters and besties have always been so supportive of me, and helped me through such a rough season. I’m forever grateful. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank my Rest & Play fam from this year, as it was because of them that I pressed launch on my business and began selling. Having such a strong and supportive community is essential to thriving!
