We had the good fortune of connecting with Alysha M. Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alysha M., what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always been a person that was driven and ambitious almost to a fault. I constantly question the things around me, from people to processes to direction, until it makes sense in how I internalize information. When something does not add up, I continue to challenge the system and myself to the point where I realign and reimagine my present state. Of course, naturally, the same thing happened when it came to my career. Being in the HR industry for almost eight years at that time, I kept challenging my environment and wanted to do things differently and approach concepts that hadn’t been done before. Realizing the resistance to change and wanting to try something new, I decided to create my path, which resulted in me starting CultureShift HR. This allowed me to work with clients and organizations that did not want the status quo for their workplace culture but wanted to truly make shifts and changes to get the most from their teams. My philosophy for any business with employees is that your business is your employees, not your product or service. Your employees are your most significant asset and must be valued and treated. The moment that changes, it will be felt in your service and then your end customer. Treat your employees right, and your employees will treat your customers even better.

What should our readers know about your business?
CultureShift HR is a diversity, equity, and inclusion consulting firm that helps clients create their DEI strategy and action plan from ideation to action in 4 seamless steps that make any plan scalable and successful. What sets CultureShift HR apart from other DEI consultancy firms is that we have a process and that makes understanding and planning your DEI initiatives in a clear and scalable methodology. The approach invites leaders from all levels to engage with the strategy and action plan to be partners in the work that is being done within the organization.

We are currently building out the Alysha M. Campbell Training Academy, which will have on demand and live trainings on over 15+ topics within diversity, equity and inclusion. The first cohort for our VIP Intensive is set to launch for August 2022.

Through building CultureShift HR, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you need to be intune with the market and the needs of your customer. Assess and pivot as quickly as you can to meet the needs of your clients at the right time. In the beginning, it’s important to be flexible to ensure your offering has longevity and sustainability.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Having lived in NYC for three years, there is still so much to discover, and the landscape is ever-changing. Chelsea Market is the first place to visit for any first-timer coming into the city. The food, music, and atmosphere is electric. So many options, you will want to buy everything! From there, you can not miss out on Central Park. Any time of year, it is a beautiful place to be, see and enjoy. There is always something fun going on, from concerts to events, and it’s a blast every time. Next stop, Brooklyn! My favorite pizza place is on the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge, and its name is Juliana’s – the best pizza I’ve ever had; then, you can get some ice cream and take a nice walk by the waterfront. Now onto dinner! I love seafood and Asian fusion, and there is no other place than Brooklyn Chophouse. You would think by the name it’s in Brooklyn, but it’s right in Midtown. Amazing Asian fried lobster, dumplings, and more!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom none of this would be possible. My husband has been my number one fan to continues to be my sounding board and my coach. Lastly, all my clients who believe in me, CultureShift HR, and the vision my team and I are building. It takes each and every single one of them to support and build this to the empire it’s going to be – Thank You!
