We had the good fortune of connecting with Alonya Franklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alonya, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
That success doesn’t happen overnight! There is a common misconception that you can be a platinum selling artist without putting in the time and effort. It takes work, discipline and consistency. Yes at any moment your song can blow up but will you be prepared for that level of exposure? Is your business in order? Are you mature enough to handle the decisions you now have to make?

What should our readers know about your business?
Kerring Management Group was officially launched in 2017 and has continued to provide superb service in the areas of artist management and independent consulting. I think what sets Kerring Management Group apart is our mission which is: to provide personal care for the artistic creative with integrity and excellence. We believe that each client is different, so the level of attention and care should be crafted to that client’s particular need. We also believe in caring for the whole client. It is important to us that our clients are staying healthy mentally, physically, and spiritually! We believe in building a strong foundation so that you can experience lasting success in the music industry. Here at Kerring Management Group, we know that with hard work and consistency, you will definitely shine! And we take great joy in watching our clients shine!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is always something to do or see in Atlanta! I would want to take them to Ponce City Market first. Its a total experience with so many yummy places to eat and shop. Then we could stay for a show at the City Winery. I also love the festivals at Piedmont Park like the Jazz Festival, One Music Fest, and the Peachtree Latino Festival. You also can’t visit Atlanta without going to the MLK Memorial and King Center. Then we can head to the Georgia Aquarium and Coca Cola museum. Plus we have to get a good salsa dance in at Loca Luna or Sanctuary.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely wouldn’t be doing what I love without the support of my family and friends! There are way too many to name. They encouraged me and prayed with me on this winding road to management and consulting. I also wouldn’t have even known that my desire to care for my clients would work if had not been for Evita G. Kaigler.  Interning for her and seeing first hand how a woman in the industry could be passionate and take good care of her clients really inspired me!
