We had the good fortune of connecting with Alizabeth Showers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alizabeth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business is deeply intertwined with my life’s mission: to empower and uplift communities of color in matters of business and wealth creation. My vision is rooted in faith, integrity, and a spirit reminiscent of Marcus Garvey, who believed in self-empowerment and financial independence. I firmly believe that with the right combination of knowledge, vision, faith, and unwavering persistence, every individual has the potential to “BUILD LASTING WEALTH LEGACIES.”

My commitment to this mission is a tribute to the legacy of business ownership that my late father, Walter Showers, started. He instilled in me the values of entrepreneurship and the importance of self-reliance. My father’s entrepreneurial spirit and the businesses he built inspired me to carry on his legacy and continue the journey of empowerment he began.

This unwavering commitment to empowering communities of color, combined with my desire to honor my father’s memory, drove me to establish my Wealth Empowerment Coaching company, “Liz Speaks Money™.” My goal is bold and ambitious: to empower 8,000 men and women of color across the globe towards financial freedom through strategic business creation by 2030.

My own journey, which included a tragic incident that forced me to put my formal education on hold and cope with PTSD, taught me the importance of resilience and taking control of one’s destiny. It became clear to me that entrepreneurship was not just a means of achieving personal success; it was a powerful tool for creating opportunities and building generational wealth within marginalized communities.

Starting my own businesses was a way to live out my mission, to continue my father’s legacy, and to show that success could be achieved despite adversity. It’s about creating a ripple effect of empowerment, where individuals from all backgrounds can rise above challenges, honor their heritage, and achieve financial freedom. My thought process was guided by the belief that through education, strategic planning, and unwavering determination, we can all “BUILD LASTING WEALTH LEGACIES” and leave a lasting impact on the world, just as my father did for me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, Strategic Business Solutions, is a full-service business and wealth management firm dedicated to guiding individuals through every step of their entrepreneurial journey. From idea conception to proper business formation, we ensure that your business entity has the essential structure in place, known as the ‘Corporate Veil.’ This critical foundation transforms your business into a true asset, one that can be leveraged and passed down to future generations, securing a lasting legacy.

What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to educating entrepreneurs on navigating the Wealth Quadrant successfully. We lower risks and liabilities on both the personal liability and tax liability side, ensuring a solid financial foundation. Our expertise extends to assisting entrepreneurs in raising capital at every stage of their business, from Seed Capital to Expansion Capital and every phase in between. Importantly, we do so without exposing them to personal financial hardships, allowing them to answer the call of business ownership with confidence. We like to say we here at SBS will save you from the most expensive tax any of us will pay, “The Ignorance Tax”.

Strategic Business Solutions has been instrumental in making Liz Speaks Money™, my wealth empowerment coaching company, a reality. As a true business owner who has transitioned from working in the business to becoming the chief visionary, I now have the time and resources to pursue my passion. My mission is to guide communities away from mere ‘Financial Literacy’ towards the next level of financial mastery, which we call “Financial Fluency.'”

The path to where I am today in my business has not been without its challenges. I faced personal adversity, including being robbed at gunpoint while a student at Morgan that forced me to put my formal education on hold and cope with PTSD. Additionally, I encountered financial hardships early on, including filing for bankruptcy in my early 20s due to a lack of knowledge of consumer and financial law. These experiences taught me that setbacks can often be the stepping stones to success, and it’s our determination and faith that enable us to overcome them. Those “Setbacks” ultimately became the door into my purpose as I immersed myself in learning all I could in the space of Business, Finance/Financial Literacy, Taxes and Law. Now I am able to use my 18 years of cultivated knowledge in the only industry I have ever known, Finance, to change the lives of those in my community and abroad

My journey from evictions and repossession to building a multi-seven-figure business in just a decade serves as a testament to the transformative power of dedication and a shift in one’s money mindset. It all begins with a commitment to changing the way we think about money, a process often ignited by reading influential books like “Think & Grow Rich,” “Rich Dad, Poor Dad,” “Laws of Success,” and absorbing wisdom from inspirational figures like Les Brown and Napoleon Hill. Changing one’s environment is essential to take the seed of your new mindset and plant it in more fertile ground. Whether it be geological change of environment of just the group of people you spend most of your time with. Your environment should reflect where you are GOING versus where you currently are.

Equally important is the intentional action of surrounding oneself with solid mentors who can impart knowledge from the inside of their own businesses. These mentors are not driven by overcharging for information readily available in books but instead offer hands-on access to their invaluable expertise. It’s through this combination of self-education, mentorship, and unwavering determination that I transformed my financial situation and achieved my goals, and I firmly believe that anyone can do the same with the right guidance and mindset.

One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned along the way is the importance of perseverance and self-belief. When you have a vision and a mission rooted in empowering others and creating positive change, it becomes a driving force that propels you forward, even when the journey is tough. Additionally I believe when we are of service to enough people, our perceived money problems will work themselves out. Its just the natural law of things. Your bank account has no choice but to catch up when you are solving others problems. But you have to be confident enough to know how to leverage your gift and courageous enough to put a price tag that honors the value you are adding to others lives.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we are more than just a business & wealth management company; we are a movement dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for all. Our legacy is built on the principles of faith, integrity, and the belief that everyone can achieve financial freedom. We are here to empower, uplift, and support individuals in their pursuit of success, regardless of their background or circumstances.

In the grand tapestry of life, my story is a testament to the power of resilience, the importance of honoring one’s heritage, and the potential for all of us to “BUILD LASTING WEALTH LEGACIES.” Our company “Strategic Business Solutions” and my personal brand, “Liz Speaks Money™,” are beacons of hope and possibility, showing that with the right knowledge, vision, strategic execution, faith, and unwavering determination, we can all achieve financial success and make a positive impact on the world.
