We had the good fortune of connecting with Aliyah Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aliyah, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I feel like the most important factor behind success is to never give up and allow yourself to fail because that’s how you grow and learn.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My journey has been long but it’s still going. I graduated high school back in 2014 and knew I wanted to be in the beauty industry. I went to Von Lee International School shortly after, then after I started working for Ulta Beauty. I loved everything about it because I got to live my dream everyday. I stayed with the company for a year then started Sephora right after and was with them for 3 years. Sephora definitely taught me a lot about the beauty industry and how to deal with clients. From color theory to picking out the perfect red lip, it was like second nature. I’ve learned that practice makes perfect literally, I would watch so many YouTube videos to perfect my craft. After all that I went back to school to get my Esthetician license because of course I couldn’t stay away from the beauty industry and even now I have so much more to learn. Being a Esthetician/ MUA I feel like sets me aside from other artist because I care about what’s underneath the makeup, I learned that from Sephora. I love watching other artist on Ig and learning from them, I am forever learning.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I just moved to Atlanta, GA 2 years ago so I’m still trying to learn this new city. I would have to say I would take my friends to the Ponce City Market roof top. It’s sooo much fun, they have games, drinks, music it’s such a vibe!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
