We had the good fortune of connecting with Alison Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alison, how do you think about risk?
According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of risk is “to expose to hazard or danger.” However, when I think about risk, I see it as motivation—not to settle in places or spaces where I don’t belong. In my life, taking risks has opened doors to opportunities I would never have experienced if I had chosen to remain stagnant. For example, I took a significant risk by switching my college major to something completely different from what I initially pursued. I took another leap of faith when I moved to Georgia on my own, leaving behind a sheltered and comfortable life with my parents. And now, I’m taking yet another risk by venturing into uncharted waters as a new content creator, all while balancing a 9-to-5 job. Each of these risks has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth. They’ve pushed me to transform and aim even higher because I’ve realized that staying on the same level isn’t where I’m meant to be.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am relatively new to the artist/creative space, as my primary focus has always been my corporate career. However, I wanted to pursue something outside of my 9-to-5 that I genuinely enjoyed and stimulated my creative side. As a content creator, I focus on lifestyle content, with my pillars being inspirational, entertaining, and fashion-based topics.

Stepping into this new realm has been far from easy. From figuring out what content to create, learning the intricacies of editing, mastering the timing of posts, to navigating hashtags, keywords, SEO, and beyond—it’s been a steep learning curve. Adding to that, I lost my mother last year, and imposter syndrome has crept in at times, making it challenging to stay motivated.

Despite these obstacles, I’m committed to building a brand that shows others there is life after loss. You can pivot, try something new, grow, and still embrace your style while doing it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wow! This is not easy at all—there are so many things to do in Atlanta! One night, we’d definitely start at BQE because the food there is so good. I’d also take them to Ponce City Market, which has so many amazing places to eat and drink. While we’re there, we’d make a stop at Bar Vegan (I love the vibe every time I go!) and then head up to the rooftop to take in the stunning skyline. We’d also hit up the Beltline, check out Apt 4B (love the vibe here too!), and spend some time at The Battery. At The Battery, we could stop by Punch Bowl Social to eat, drink, and play some games.I know this itinerary might be a little all over the place, but I think it would make for a real good time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are three important people I want to dedicate this Shout Out series to: God, and my parents, Albert and Carolyn Jones. I am deeply thankful to my parents for raising me to be a self-sufficient, kind, loving, caring, and intelligent person. Without their guidance, lessons, and unconditional love, I wouldn’t be the woman I am today. Thank you, Mom and Dad!

The other person I want to honor is God. My relationship with Christ is sacred and special to me. Building upon that foundation continually reminds me that God sees me and that I am fearfully and wonderfully made in His image—even on the days when I struggle to hold onto that truth.
