We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alicia, what is the most important lesson your business/’career has taught you?
The most important lesson that I have learned from my business has been “Communication has multiple layers. Some are verbal, physical, tangible, and some go unseen. Most importantly, no matter what method it may be done by, it has to be effective.” Whether it is from myself as the owner or any part of “Poppin With Alicia”, communication must be clear, precise, and delivered with respect.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Finding my passion for creativity has surprised me in the last couple years. I had no clue I would be where I am today just two years ago. When I created my brand, I thought about our community and what those around me were looking for. I wanted to help bring art and self-expression to those who wanted something unique added to their special occasions.
Much like any other craft or talent I began studying other artists, watching creators, practicing my skill in my free time, and taking feedback from others to grow. I set time aside to come up with the brand and build a plan for what I expected out of the business.
Nothing comes easy when hard work is involved but I remained focused on growing at all times. Remembering that even errors are part of growth. I was intentional about networking with individuals in my community and creating a platform for my brand to be noticed by others. Unfortunately, this includes financial sacrifices that are made to give audiences a visual of what is provided by “Poppin with Alicia”. Sometimes you have to take losses to make greater gains.
I take pride in providing excellence in every transaction, event, and occasion that we are contracted to. “Poppin with Alicia” stands strong on doing business that leaves lasting impressions.

Shoutout to Bridgett my mother who goes with me for every setup, and she knows what I need before I even ask. Shoutout my husband Patrick for supporting and encouraging me to keep pushing for greatness. Even when I have balloons everywhere in the house prepping he is still so positive and amazing.
