We had the good fortune of connecting with Ali Korf and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ali, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am a Nurse Practitioner with an entrepreneurial spirit. I have always struggled to find a good middle ground when it comes to my career path. Ive worked for majority start up companies and have enjoyed being a part of building something from the ground up. When I discovered Restore Hyper Wellness and the opportunity to build and grow a business for myself that was in the health and wellness space, and allowed me to practice as an NP, it felt like the perfect fit.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career background is based on my nursing education. I’ve been a nurse now for over 8 years, and a Nurse Practitioner for 3. Anyone in the nursing world can tell you that it’s not a career path for the faint of heart. The education alone will weed out a good portion of those who think they want to be a nurse and even after graduation, burn out is real!! I worked 3 years on an Acquired Brain Injury unit at one of the nations top rehab hospitals. The people that I met along the way were inspirational, but the day-to-day took a toll on me mentally. I saw some of the most amazing and heart breaking things there. Thankfully, I had the personal insight to know when it was the right time for me to step back and redirect my career. I decided to take a more proactive approach to healthcare and went back to school to become an FNP. As an NP, I have work with a few start up companies in telemedicine before everyone seemed to be moving down that path. So I would consider myself a pioneer in the space. I was also given the opportunity to lead a small team of other NPs as we grew and morphed into a national telemedicine company. But alas I missed the direct patient interaction and decided to look for ways to provide care in the integrative medicine field that seemed to fit my beliefs and standards for healthcare.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely be hitting up some of my favorite local spots! We’d start the day with a sweaty workout at Hotworx in Smyrna, and then head to Restore for an IV drip. We’d probably just hangout at the pool and relax for most of the day. There are tons of great places to eat including Porch Light Latin Kitchen, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, and Maru Sushi. Dinner would be followed up with an awesome bottle of red wine at The Vineyard Wine Market in Smyrna Market Village. All of this is assuming we are kid free and in a non-COVID world, but hey – a girl can dream!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest influencer and source of encouragement is my husband, Taylor. He also happens to be my business partner, so I lucked out there. Taylor has always supported me in my goals, professionally and personally, and he has shared the dream of owning our own business even before we knew what it would be. He has been my rock throughout the entire process, spending countless nights helping with the backend of the business startup and launch. I also have to give Ashley Inglese, the Franchise Owner of Hotworx in Smyrna a huge shout out as well. She has graciously answered many questions about her experience with opening and running a franchise and has supported us in our launch as well! She was one of our very first official customers!
