Hi Alfreda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
While working in the Workforce Development environment, I realized that there was a great disparity between those seeking employment and the Employers seeking candidates: neither were actually communicating to understand the other. We assume that all jobs , and job descriptions are created equal. I took my background in Talent Acquisitions, Sourcing and HR Development and started my company in order to educate and connect businesses and non profits with the candidates they need as well as train them in relative skills that make them more retentive to the organization.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Perfectly Suited Career Consulting is a Training and Development Firm focused on helping businesses and non profit organizations understand, develop and retain their greatest assets- their people!. We specialize in offering customizable and accredited training and Certification programs covering HR related topics and needs. We also support startup businesses with resources and tools as they grow their business with Capability Statements, Staffing and HR onboarding tools. With our background of 20+ years in Workforce Development and Talent Acquisitions/Recruiting, we bring a different perspective to our clients that set them apart from competitors. Through trial and error, we embraced the Pivot Perspective(c) to always look for out of the box solutions that make sense and profit. Collaboration over Competition is our mantra and encompasses how we have continued to stay relevant in our industry. We show others how partnerships actually increase brand awareness and influence and is a win-win for the end result. My legacy that I desire to leave with the world is to know that everything in life is only a lesson to gain knowledge and understanding in order to share with others that they may grow to their next levels without half of the frustration..

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since relocation to Jacksonville from Georgia (Golden Isles area) in 2012, there are still some uncovered areas of the City I am still learning. There are some hidden gems though to explore, Riding down the coast line to visit St. Augustine, the country’s oldest City, visiting the Jacksonville Zoo, catching a local sports team game, eating breakfast/brunch at Maple Street Biscuit Company or Metro Diner; Finding soul food at Soul Food Bistro or Jazzy’s Restaurant, listening to some great Jazz artists at Breezy’s Jazz Club or following a plethora of local bands and events- the choices are endless based on taste and budget.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout my network of friends and colleagues/Mentors that have helped me transition as well as Pivot in my career and background: Dr. Carlton Robinson, Ringer Center of Excellence, Brenda Blount, Jax Bridges and Jacksonville Women’s Business Center, Pastor Mark Baker and so many others.
