We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexzandra Swindle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexzandra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To be honest , I had no intention on starting my own business . It came to a point in time where I made an impulse decision to leave my job and at that point I KNEW I had to bet on myself . I knew I was talented and creative . I knew my work ethic . I knew myself . I knew what I wanted for my life and I knew the situation I was in was no longer aligning with my purpose . I took a huge leap of faith and went for it totally unprepared but I was willing and determined to figure this out . Turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made in my life .

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started waxing professionally immediately after graduating esthetician school . I had zero experience at the time but that didn’t deter me . Less than a year I worked my way to a lead position in my company and started to see my influence make a difference . After 2 years I decided to go out on my own and that is what I can I am most proud of . This journey has not been easy . I’ve faced truths about who I actually am and the person I think I am . Seems like I’ve had to unlearn and relearn everything I’ve known about life , people , and relationships . I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way . Being an entrepreneur has opened my mind to things I probably would be naive to had I not taken this path . I want the world to know that just because its hard does not mean its impossible and you are capable of doing hard things ! That quote gets me through every challenge I face and gives me that extra push to keep going .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestie was coming for a visit one of the first things we would do is hit up a wingspot ! You can’t go wrong with Memphis wings and what better way to come back to the city ! Throughout the week would be a more chill vibe , we love dinner dates and Porch & Parlor is one of my current favs to dress up and enjoy a nice slow evening . Towards the weeknd for a little more uptempo vibe there are a couple places we could go . Top Golf is new to the city and has been a lot of fun . After that we would go by District XII . I’ve been recently and the vibes music atmosphere is great ! Perfect to keep the fun vibes rolling . Sunday we can end the weekend with a picnic on the river with games or just chill to talk and catch up .

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my parents who have supported me my entire life and my brother who is a great example of what a well rounded person should be . Without their support a lot of what I’ve accomplished would have been either delayed or impossible . I’m a college dropout . My dad told me one day ” I don’t care that you don’t want to go to school . I don’t care if you lay carpet but you are going to do SOMETHING ” . I never forget that . It was the start of me chasing my dreams . My mom has been my biggest fan in everything I’ve done no matter how big or small I felt the accomplishment she made me feel it was the greatest thing I’ve done in life . I am forever grateful for their unconditional love .
