We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexis, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Before I became a full time entrepreneur I always worked 2 jobs or overtime at my full time job…just for the money but I complained everyday. Now I feel like I work 24/7 but I love what I do! I feel like I actually contribute to my community, my future children and myself! I feel like I work so much and I have to literally go on vacation to give myself a break. All the hard work is worth in the end and that’s what keeps me going!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
From day one I’ve always made it a priority to give excellent customer service! I remember when I first started my business, while I was still trying to perfect my craft I was told to no matter what give people an amazing experience and that’s something that’s carried me a long way. I want to provide the best experience to anyone that gets serviced by me, rents from me or does any other business with me! I thrive to leave a lasting impression! I don’t know any business owner that will ever say it was easy to start or run your business. I mean in all honesty sometimes the challenges seem never ending. I overcame those obstacles by having the right mindset, not losing focus of my goals and remembering that failure is an opportunity to learn and grow, not a reason to give up. Having faith in yourself and the right mindset will really take you far.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was coming to visit me in Virginia for a week I’d definitely have a full itinerary and staying in Virginia might not even be part of it in all honesty. We definitely do brunch at bay local, bee and biscuit or canvas for steak and eggs! The sunset at the beach is always a vibe. Going a orange theory class for a workout. Then definitely catching a happy hour, at Ruth Chris, Chef’s Kitchen or Rockefeller’s. Knowing me and my spontaneity, we’d probably end up taking a road trip to Richmond or DC for a change of scenery!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s so many people I can give credit to that have helped me along my journey. In actuality, none of this would be possible without God. I want to thank him for giving the strength and the power to run this business and rise to the top. I’m grateful to have friends and family that have supported my business from day one and continue to give me love and encouragement along the way. My parents and my grandmother for always being there whenever I needed anything!
