We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Onikkia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea of “ Lexquisite Hair Co.” when I was in a serious auto accident in Baltimore ,Md that sent me to shock trauma unit where I had to have 30 stitches put in my forehead and 12 stitches in my left ankle. I knew I would be out of work for a while to recover but I also knew bills had to be paid .In addition to life hitting me all at once 3 days later after my severe accident my grandmother was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with stage four cancer then immediately put on hospice . So I had to get my head in the game ,pray on things and figure out how an I gonna bring in extra income during this difficult time. My passion for the beauty industry was still growing and I was currently a General manager at “Kc hair and beauty EASTPOINT MALL LOCATION ” where they fired me with no empathy for my circumstances. The only explanation I received was “ you missed too much time.” So I decided to invest in myself and order luxury hair extensions from a vendor I partnered with overseas to make a profit. Of course , Lexquisite Hair Co wasn’t my first entrepreneurial venture and it may not be my last but I’m so determined to expand my business here in Atlanta by providing high quality extensions for a reasonable price and look forward to networking with other local entrepreneurs in the beauty industry so we all can win together..

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets my business apart is customer satisfaction.I aim to ensure my customers are satisfied I want their experience with shopping with Lexquisite Hair Co to be remembered.Not only how great our customer service is but how reasonable our high quality products are. My ultimate goal is for customers to invest in our hair extensions and use them for 2-3 years which can allow them to save by investing in their crown worn daily. Starting a business venture is never easy but doable you just have to remain patient, consistent and keep going. There’s times I may have no sales but you have to believe in your vision you have to push through and make your dream a reality. I learned along the way that “you only fail if you give up” so no matter how many time a venture may not work out in my favor you have to continue to chase your dreams . I want the world to know that life is what you make it so start that business ,set them goals and get to work. Everyone’s capable of chasing their dreams whether it’s being a successful entrepreneur or a successful employee we need both in order for our world to stay in motion .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would say I literally love Atlanta overall but Lenox square mall is definitely your go to mall , truth midtown is a good place to visit if your looking for brunch/nightlife the music , food and ambience is immaculate . And if you’re into hookah on the go visit
“ hookah hose” downtown Atlanta for a fun vibe to remember.

I would love to give a shoutout to everyone who has supported me within my four years of being an entrepreneur whether it was a simple share to advertise my business , purchase or those who believe in any vision I launch. However, most importantly I would love to shoutout God because without him I wouldn’t be offered this opportunity to be interviewed by your staff today or be exalted to unlock the next chapter in chasing my dreams.
