We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Carswell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
Having to decide to quit my job was the most difficult decision. I am a person who thrives off of a system and or plan.  Security gives me peace and a job always offered that for me. Quitting to pursue avenues that would be totally up to me to make successful was a lot more of a challenge to accept than I thought. With the grace of God I was able to almost double my pay from my corporate job, by betting on myself.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As an entrepreneur I wear many hats when it comes to the businesses I’ve created. I am the owner of Blinx Rx which is my lash extension company, the owner of The Social Gem which is a full service marketing Boutique and the co-owner of A&A Events which is a luxe full service event planning and design company.

I am most proud of the opportunities I’ve created for myself all from just believing I could and taking it day by day, step by step. With each company I’m amazed at the support and success I’ve built and so excited to continue to expand each brand to its fullest potential!

To highlight what I mentioned earlier, I got to where I am now by truly believing in myself and taking advantage of every detour and lesson that’s come before. Finding light in situations that were difficult and finding the confidence to always keep going. Was it easy? No, but it’ been so worth it!

I overcame challenges by always educating myself on areas I saw lack. Or reaching out for support to help me through.

Some of the lessons I’ve learned are to always keep going. No matter the obstacle, continue to stay in a positive & creative outlook. Another lesson, is that it’s ok to start and not have every detail outlined. Sometimes we let the fear of perfection stop us from learning from the ugly and just putting yourself out there. There’s so much beauty in looking back at where you started!

I’d want the world to know that my brands come with quality and love. I am a perfectionist and also love to serve people. I enjoy uplighting and creating vibes that encourage good energy and truly want the best for all people. My story comes with a lot of trust and faith in God. When I need more courage to keep going, I lean on my faith in knowing that God won’t let me down and that if it’s for me, it’s for me…. so I have to keep going. I aspire to encourage others to take control over their destiny and to take action on the things that bring them passion. I remember being a kid dreaming to be an event planner and today I can say I am living the dream! It’s crazy and cliche but I definitely made room for what brings me happiness!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So my best friend is coming to town and here’s a glimpse to our week in Augusta, Ga! First we would start with a more relaxed paced to catch up but still soak in some fun. Breakfast at the Flipping Egg followed by a session of yoga at the Himalayan Salt Cave. Next we’d have a day of pamper getting our nails and toes done followed by a day at the spa! If there’s anything about me I love being pampered and enjoying an aesthetically pleasing place. Next on the list would be an evening walk by the river at the Savannah Rapids. This place has amazing views and is super relaxing. For dinner and drinks one night we’d head downtown at one of my favorite restaurants, The Whiskey Bar. Perfect spot for light dinner options and great vibes! Causal but still swanky. It’s summer time so to end the week, we’re headed next to the Jazz series in the Commons show. Live music, family and friends, food vendors and good vibes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Will Carswell, without his support and belief in my dreams I’d still be working my corporate job. My best friend Summyr Wright-Nelson, she was with me every step in building my confidence to do what I knew I had to do in quitting my job. Lastly, my sister Brittany Crafton, she’s allowed me to occupy a space in her salon Cosmo B Hair Studio to pursue my lash career with no hesitation and has given me more than I could ever repay her. She’s my true entrepreneur inspiration! In addition to so many others like my mom, business partner Abigail, and family I’m so appreciative of their support in my journey. Thank you times a million!
