We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexas Durr- Terry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexas, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Building a business was truly a God-ordained calling. I never actually thought I ever had anything worthy enough to market to others but obviously, there were different plans for me. As time progressed, I started to really focus on building a business that truly spoke to areas that meant a lot to me. It’s not about the money; it’s about the impact and legacy that is left with those I work with. A business isn’t easy, but the right business for you will be all worth it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Freelance Project & Operations Manager. I offer a range of services for entrepreneurs including bookkeeping, email and website management, and small event planning. I also do courses for teens and young adults ages 14 to 23 that focus on college and career placement. With those services, I also provide LinkedIn support and resumes. For me, both of these avenues came naturally to me. I love helping people find the just right opportunities for themselves, and I also enjoy strategic planning for projects no matter the size. I choose to offer both services because I have studied extensively operations and college & career counseling. What’s different about my services is that I choose quality over quantity. The individual or business I work with must align to the vision I have for myself. It’s not all about the money. Being authentically particular about my clientele is important because it weeds out people with ill-intentions or those who don’t value impact or positive and transparent legacies.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely find different Atlanta-based eateries and try the unique cuisine options. We would stay inside the perimeter because a lot of those restaurants are Atlanta staples and some are family-owned and operated. We could visit the local tourist places, but I find that food in Atlanta is what connects people to opportunities or new beginnings.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband and dad have definitely been there since the beginning of all of my endeavors. My dad put me on game about building a business and having the option to work for others if I want. My husband and I started as friends over ten years ago and he’s been my thought partner on every pivot I’ve made. They are definitely my guys. The book and other individuals that have capitulated me into building better business practices have been Steve Harvey and Ramit Sethi– I’ve always admired Steve’s work ethic and honestly and Ramti’s book “I Will Teach You to Be Rich” (and the newsletter) have gems for personal finance that are parallel to business finance.
