We had the good fortune of connecting with The Mighty Terrazzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terrazzo, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Consistency: We practice every week together, and if we cant make it to our usual schedule, we carve out the time to make sure every person is caught up and on the same page.

Resources and Content: We have saved EVERYTHING, from scratch guitar parts, 30 second reels of drum parts for reference practice, as well as all of the audio from every live performance we’ve done.

Preparation: Having a plan even before taking action helped us keep our goals realistic while making sure growth is always in our sights. Dreams of having a manager/merch/a tour mean nothing if we dont have our order of operations in the proper order.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We all have drastically different musical backgrounds and careers, some of us have been in several bands and for some of us its our first band playing consistent live performances. Taking all of the styles of rock/metal/jazz and melding them to create what we hope to become a distinctive sound we dubbed “progressive doom” has been both the biggest challenge and most fun part about the experience together.

Creating genuine friendships outside of creating music has also been equally important to us; these are people you are theoretically going to live with for months at a time, we gotta like each other.

Starting out as a band is hard and volatile. The first time you play a show in front of an empty crowd is very humbling, but the very next week you can be playing a sold out crowd and be riding the thrill that keeps you driven for the next month.

We’ve been a band for only a year, but, we have two EPs of content written, and plans on creating resources that will help rebuild the Atlanta local metal scene into a community.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Momma Terry for all of the band nourishment. Greg for being the executive chair of the mosh pit, Austin for heading security, Jack for being our mascot, and anyone else who has helped us with media along the way.
